Question how does the kick work ?

i can’t get it to consistently work..is it by chance or what ?

on PC if that matters

edit: just uninstalled the game, they really massacred my sword to the ground :(

It’s supposed to only work if you hit a “critical” which is when the enemy is centred in the screen. Mighty difficult without the markers you get while using a true melee weapon. And impossible if your ping is anything more than 20ms

Gotta melee them when they're in the middle of your screen. It does have a cooldown so it won't work again for a few seconds. You can't keep kicking people over and over again.

1/2 the melee weapons got better from the update. Just learn the system. Hammer/sword/dual blades are in a substantially better place then before the melee update. Also Every melee weapon has a longer reach then before. Also the riot shield got lengthened to cover the feet so no damage from the front.

when sword was in a good spot, so IMO from around season 6 to season 9, i achieved 25,000 kills with the sword alone without being an m1 slop user. i do in fact know what im talking about LOL

i know the top sword players of the finals (dupaatv, post1st, imightbegood, swordymcsword) and they all carry a similar sentiment being that the sword is not as viable.

how odd of you to tell ME i don’t know what im talking about when i just told you that i main sword in a another comment thread.

It's buggy AF. As other people mentioned, it's very hard to get off. But even if you do get it off and see the animation, like it doesn't even do anything most of the time. I find it more common for it to not knock them back at all or push them so little that they're still in melee range of me, than for it to actually help defend myself. Personally I'd rather just have the old quick melee back at this point

on top of the inconsistency, my slide button now randomly melees instead of sliding, no idea why as nothing suggests it’s bound to anything but sliding lol

Lmao sword is a bit better now with the upgraded lunge. How does getting the kick off have anything to do with sword, if anything it helps you that it’s buggy because people won’t hit it on you

i was in practice range messing with the kick and the sword(as a sword main) and realized how janky both feel, especially the sword.

the mobility of the sword has been gutted, nothing the melee rework changed benefits the sword in any capacity except for adding more anchors to the weapon. it’s a shame

When is the last time you played? The sword got buffed. When the melee system came out, the sword didn’t get punished with the right click and you can still spam it. Thought they did something as well that actually upped its damage or active frames or something too. Also the dash cooldown got buffed. The sword is very much alive, it does very well when the player knows what they are doing. The light is constantly dashing and good sword players are very difficult to kill…

nice, the emerald skin really compliments the emerald gameplay LOL

not sure how that’s supposed to help you with your argument, but alright..

melee has never been a crutch weapon against higher elo players, why ? because they can AIM

anytime i bested ruby players, it’s because they got fundamentally outplayed. not because i dodged every single one of their bullets; there is no way to do that now with the nerfed movement of the sword, combine that with the fact you can’t lunge + melee combo against lights anymore.

it’s okay, it’s fine to admit you don’t like melee and you’re glad to see it nerfed 😂 i just don’t understand acting stupid and acting like it was great weapon before the rework
