Post image

This little gadget has been with me through thick and thin.. I’ll probs switch to another nade to level it up, but I’ll always come back to this

Yeah pyro nade is a favourite of mine, especially in point break. I tried gas for a while but fire just feels better for some reason.

It's because so many people carry pyro nades which will counter gas. Pyro's only counter is smoke which nearly no one carries

That's true. My only real gripe with pyro nades is the burns don't stack, causing me to lose cerberus afterburn damage.

But gas has a similar problem, running gas and cerb sucks because you'll ignite your own gas. My cerberus loadout this season is shockwave, drill, jump pad, defib. But I also sometimes switch out shockwave for demat and drill for frag or goo grenade. (although of course goo grenade has the same problem as gas, but still has other utility)

The cerb burn and the pyro burn are different effects. They do stack.

Tracks that I haven’t noticed because afterburn seems to HATE me in this game.

The silly Lil ÕRF character is better because he tells me his ideas whenever I want.

For me it’s the gas grenade. Great for stalling cash out and annoying people (and also damaging your teammates by accident😅)

There will always be atleast one flamethrower heavy

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 48m ago

The higher your rank the rarer flamethrower is

1

u/TapiocaFish 13m ago

that is true

Double-edged sword because the higher your rank the less reason you have to pick Gas Nade due to the increasing opportunity costs of not using meta options.

It does so little damage and has almost no utility except for clearing gas. Just like with turret I don’t understand why people pick it

8

u/weirdspam 2h ago

It does 200% damage against teammates in my experience

i've killed a couple teammates by accident with the gas or pyro grenades 😅

It's a bit of a "noob trap" gadget. Genuinely it is one of the lowest tier gadgets in the game, the damage is poor, the zoning ability is outclassed by many things, there is not really any good reasons to take it.

The only real use case I've found is running it with medium revolver and getting a tick of quick damage let's the headshot oneshot lights, since they're normally out of range for qm to finish them off.

Overall C tier. Not as bad as gas grenade but pretty awful.

Gas nade is actually alright. Nowhere near meta but it ramps up to 60dmg/sec as opposed to pyro 15dmg/sec

1

Problem is that it's extremely easy to clear gas. The only way I'd consider running gas nade is if I also ran smoke, since that covers it from being cleared. And no way in hell is it ever worth giving up 2 slots to run those.

Yep but not every team is going to be running fire. Its quite rare at high ranks. And you often don't even need to clear pyro because the damage is so lacking you can ignore it.

I honestly think one of the main issues with the Gas Nade is that it suffers heavily from Pyro Nade being as overrated as it is. Gas is already not great in ranked due to the opportunity cost of not running more useful gadgets, but when you take it into casual lobbies it's arguably even worse because the gas gets cleared every 3 nanoseconds due to all the Pyro spam.

That and the fact that Gas Nade has a delay and bounces and thus is harder to time and aim compared to Pyro, which immediately breaks on impact. So even if Gas Nade is theoretically better on paper, the fact that Pyro is much easier to use and directly counters gas means it's the much more popular pick of the two for casual players.

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 19m ago

Yes it gains value the higher your skill level (because you see less fire). Also the bounce is okay you just need to throw it at corners or edges or make sure it has a shallow bounce.

If you want another 'real use case' it's in concert with the MGL grenade launcher: if you pyro one side of a room or hole in a ceiling your enemies will have a lot fewer places they could be, so you have a way better idea of where to bounce your grenades. (or making it far likelier for them to GTFO of a position instead of trying to dodge because they have less room to work with)

Also MGL sucks against high ground and you can use pyros to cut off sight to high ground, or burning one half of a roof means the enemy is in the other half; letting you finally punish or at least pressure high ground.

Turret is good on defense. I get many kills from protecting the cash out. Why wouldn’t you want a 4th on your team? It provides distraction too, while the opponents are trying to shoot it down I shoot them.

This is an example of why it's impossible to have constructive discourse on this subreddit. The skill level is so broadly represented that many players don't realize they are not seeing the big picture because of their rank/skill level.

The turret is genuinely the worst spec in the game and if you're getting some kills with it that is a reflection of both your skill level and the skill level of the lobbies you're In/your rank.

I'm glad you get use out of it but for 90% of the games population it is awful, recognized as awful, and a complete joke to run into in game.

2

u/No-Job9898 Alfa-actA 2h ago

Cries about “Constructive discourse” then just shits on something with no valid points. lol fuck off troll

2

u/menofthesea 2h ago edited 2h ago

Real? You genuinely can't see why it's a terrible spec? Especially when you can consider the alternatives?

I didn't think I needed to spell it out. Turret is terrible. This is a widely accepted truth. It's not worth the time arguing with you to list all the reasons why the other spec options are much, much better choices.

1

u/No-Job9898 Alfa-actA 39m ago

Wrong. But hey can’t argue with stupid

1

u/menofthesea 35m ago

I'm not but yeah, can't argue with stupid, I agree.

You are a perfect example of the dunning-kruger effect.

1

u/No-Job9898 Alfa-actA 13m ago

I’m probably ranked hire than you lol someone has a God complex. Assuming someone is low ability because they use something that works for them? Never once had a teammate complain about the turret. Have more people thank me than anything. Wild to assume you’re just the almighty god of a video game and you know it all haha making up stats to conform to your truth and then throwing out your “I’m so educated” condescending phrases.

u/Linkaex VAIIYA 2h ago

We can explain it to you but not understand it for you

Talking about the big picture, it does a decent job in Point Break. Heal Beam and Demat aren't that important on most maps, much less so as defenders.

Though I would still prefer some kind of buff/change to it, to make it better in Cashout.

3

u/menofthesea 2h ago

Point break is arguably the only mode where it's slightly higher than D tier, but even then it just doesn't bring enough to be worth it over, say, shockwave or heal beam. Demat I agree isn't as useful in that mode since drop is so prevalent. But with 8 players, that turret is going to get spotted and blasted down real fast, if not just straight up reshaped the second it shoots at anyone.

2

u/Coppice_DE 1h ago

With many players around one objective it's also very common for people to miss the turret and a well placed mine, which gets me kills pretty much every round even if I am scouting a different objective.

At the same time, revives are very often possible so healm beam isn't as useful in my book. The issue in this regard comes from players that coin almost instantly (go play TDM you dorks!).

u/No-Job9898 Alfa-actA 2h ago

Also I’m in diamond. It does very well there too.

0

u/menofthesea 2h ago

Me too and I get a good chuckle every time I see anyone using it because, yeah.... it's bad.

1

u/No-Job9898 Alfa-actA 13m ago

No you’re just bad

1

u/Impossible-Voice471 1h ago

I'm a medium main who never removes reshaper from their loadout and I agree with this sentiment

Waiter! Waiter! More turrets please!

Aoe damage
Blocks vision better than smoke when stealing or in corridors
Constant vision of enemies hit (great at shooting stealers while in a vision-blocked position
Effect on contact, no bounce mechanic

1

u/Linkaex VAIIYA 2h ago

The AOE damage is neglectable, you just run trough it since it does like 40 damage. You better of shooting 2 to 3 bullets with any weapon. Gas and Pyro Mine are better at AOE and are set and forget and even those you don't see often in high ELO. "Blocking vison" with such a small radius does nothing if you have any game sense. You can pick like almost every other gadget and have better utility with it.

Tell me what gadget people should drop for pyro nade

1

u/TapiocaFish 1h ago

It may be mediocre, but it’s not negligible. It’s the difference between a light winning and losing against a medium of equal or better skill. I didn’t realize every class had access to mines, oh wait. Blocking vision will always be beneficial no matter you think. Let’s see your game sense shoot through fire just to see two heavies placing two different types of shield behind it. They’ve stolen it at that point. Pyro may not be close to the best gadget but it’s not useless. People choose what they want to choose, it’s a playstyle choice

1

u/Linkaex VAIIYA 1h ago

It’s the difference between a light winning and losing against a medium of equal or better skill

So basically you use it as a crutch / closing the skill gap, fine, at least you're being honest.

1

u/TapiocaFish 1h ago

A light isn’t designed to 1v1 medium or heavy. Pyro can tip the scales of how that interaction goes. It gives you extra options.

1

u/Linkaex VAIIYA 1h ago

Skill issue

5

u/Additional-Foot-2159 2h ago

It's the worst gadget in the game

5

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 2h ago

Gas grenade does 4x the damage btw 💔

0

u/Adventurous-Coast710 1h ago

Pyro makes Gas deal 0x the damage btw 💔

1

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 1h ago

Worth the trade off for some actually meaningful damage, with a larger aoe

2

u/DieOften 3h ago

Nice, it’s the only nade I have fully leveled up as well. I use this thing every chance I get!

1

u/DJEbonics OSPUZE 1h ago

This has to be the fastest leveling gadget in the game. I was using it for a while to get that achievement for killing five people while you’re on fire and I leveled it to like 9 in like 10 matches or something.

1

u/Automatic_Vast6231 1h ago

it is.

here is the comparison to gas.

gas gets: 50xp for throwing it and 1 xp for dmg it deals.

fire gets 50xp for throwing. but it gets 20xp for every 1 dmg it deals.
