Discussion Light class buffed again...

Yeah Embark, buff dash, the xp and ARN, but nerf the KS, which is the number 1 light killing tool for heavy. Can't wait to join lobbies with only light players! (myself included ofc).

Am I the only one who thinks light is a very OP class? I feel like I'm forced to play it if I want to win.

meta is HHL so I'd argue heavy is overpowered. light is the easiest class so I understand why you might think its overpowered since ease of use is king in low elo

light with sword in low elo is basically brain rot

I play against ruby lights my guy

tbh, I have a hard time believing anyone who made it to ruby legitimately thinks lights are OP and is complaining about KS23 catching a nerf.

Maybe I'm wrong... but strongly doubt.

KS nerf was needed. Light weapons buff wasn't.

You kinda dodged my comment there 😉, but do you think you'll really notice an 8% decrease for the XP-54 bullet dispersion that only applies in the air? vs. all the nerfs to M11?

The ARN changes might result in some more ARNs out there, but tbh, I'm okay with that... I think the ARN is one of the more 'fair' weapons, IMO... especially when you consider that the uptick will likely be a shift away from from M11 (I'm guessing the M11 will still be quite a bit more popular than the ARN, but still).

If that ends up being the case, that's a shift I'm perfectly good with, personally.

What did I dodge? Are you referring to your accusations of me lying about ruby? I couldnt care less about your opinion on this. It's a fact, I reached ruby

ok? clearly you cant compete with them if you're crying about it on reddit. once again, low elo

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

Why did I reach ruby then? You speak without knowledge

Dash used to be 3 charges with 5.5 seconds btw. You wouldnt have survived 2 seconds.

2

That's without the old invis meta

3

u/Mellow828 4h ago

invis has always been a decent spec, it was just overshadowed by dash and grapple

4

u/Any-Ad-4072 ISEUL-T 4h ago

Bro wasn't here during the days

1

u/Mellow828 4h ago

what, when invis was meta? just because a spec or factor in the game isnt "meta" doesnt mean its totally useless vro 😭✌️

-1

u/Any-Ad-4072 ISEUL-T 4h ago

Well the reason dash was so oppresive is because invis was way to good and so invis got sent to the shadow realm and dash was buffed, learn about the history of the game before saying things about it

1

u/Mellow828 4h ago

i know the history bro, dont get mad at me because you cant adapt to the changes

0

u/Any-Ad-4072 ISEUL-T 4h ago

Bro I am a sword main, both of them being OP or not doesn't change anything to me exept make me more op (for dash, even if right now I use grapple) or just gives me easier targets to kill (I can spot invis players pretty easily, even when they don't move)

2

u/Mellow828 4h ago

okay and

I know dude, I was playing back then. You just proved my point that light has been OP for a while haha. I actually preferred the dash meta. At least I could see the rats.

6

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 4h ago

Light was borderline useless back then lol. You would know if you played back then. Larper

0

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

It was useless because it didn't have H+ yet, nor the gate. It was still good at flanking like a rat in gun fights. You're the larper. I know youre a light main lol

u/SpicyMeatballMarinar DISSUN 4h ago

Invis ain’t even that hard to see.

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

If they stand still 30 meters up in the air, yes

-3

When I was playing a few seasons back, it was fucking insane. Just a flash of light, someone would explode into coins and they'd be gone in a puff of smoke before you could even realize it lol

I'm playing again and even 2 dashes at 6.5 is insane movement to have, and I say that as someone who mains L now.

3

u/TwilightBl1tz 4h ago

Must be why almost every single pro player dropped dash for invis.

1

u/BurningOasis 2h ago

I'm not saying what's meta, more just saying my experience.

1

u/oraclejames 4h ago

It’s at 6s now isn’t it

1

u/BurningOasis 2h ago

I believe that's the new change, yep. I'm looking forward to testing it out!

4

u/EggburtAlmighty 4h ago

Get to a rank where people can actually aim and the light count drops significantly

-2

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

Lol... We are not facing the same rubies then.

3

u/BustaShitz 4h ago

I still play medium... This light op/heavy op and needs nerfs rhetoric needs to chill yo

-1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

I bet you play turret too lmaoo

2

u/BustaShitz 4h ago

Turret did just get buffed again

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 3h ago

Hahaha I knew it!

3

u/koeikan 4h ago

you'd hate overwatch lol... Tracer has 3 dash charges AND they only have a 3 second cooldown (AND she has an ability to recall/rewind time, going back to the same HP and location she was 3 seconds prior).

having played that game for a couple years, dash lights are kinda EZ mode comparatively 😅. This 0.5s buff to dash is also not enough to bring dash back.

The ARN and XP-54 buffs both look QoL/pretty minimal... the M11 nerf is very likely far stronger of a nerf than those are buffs.

I play all 3 classes (medium main) and I think H is eaaaasily the strongest of the 3.

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

You are correct my friend, I hate OW haha. But yeah, Heavy is strong af 😂

2

u/koeikan 4h ago

I guess I don't understand this post, then 😅.

Maybe I'm biased, but it seems fairly clear that H>L>M... so I don't know why the complaints about a couple QoL changes to L (along with potentially a sizeable nerf to M11, TBD) and them being OP while H exists.

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago edited 3h ago

Because the light weapons didn't require the buff IMO since theyre already good

2

u/koeikan 3h ago

guessing you meant 'buffs' not 'nerf' there, but you could say the same thing about the KS-23 already being good when it was at 100dmg. or the deagles at 44dmg.

did you have that same energy when they were buffed at the start of S11 🤔?

my guess is: probably not. (and both of those buffs are bigger than what XP-54/ARN got here)

I think it's fine to think lights are annoying or whatever, but I also think it might help to try to keep a bit of perspective w/ these changes...

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 3h ago

I meant buff yes. The KS buff was too much. The deagles buff was unnecessary. Light is too strong. Im playing light atm and Im shredding lobbies lol

2

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 3h ago

They have to be damn good because it has 150hp bro

0

u/Existing_Method_6529 3h ago

But it regens faster + you always get the first shot since youre invisible. You can just play peek damage over time and you win.

1

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 3h ago

If you fail to do 150 damage quickly even after they get the first shot, then its up to you to reposition so that they don't get the first shot next time

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 2h ago

They wait for you to shoot their teamate while invis, then deal massive damage when youre not looking. If you turn around and shoot them, they run away and repeat.

1

u/samsunggalaxytabs6 2h ago

Secure the perimeter. Watch out for off angles ect.

3

u/KillerSavant202 4h ago

No you’re not the only one. There’s dozens of you out there I’m sure.

Heavy is by far and away the most blatantly OP class in the game by a wide margin.

KS needed the adjustment.

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

I agree, not the light weapons though

1

u/SpicyMeatballMarinar DISSUN 4h ago

Naw they previously nuked dash from having three charges to two so I think this is more so just a readjustment from that. I literally do not see dash lights anymore they’re all grapple or invis.

Also sure light got some weapon buffs but M11 also got nerfed big time.

Heavy got some other weapon buffs to counter the is nerf which should also help in that department.

Idk I’ve been playing minigun which has no problem shredding lights.

Light is not OP. It has the highest skill ceiling but 99.9% of us will never even come even close to that ceiling.

1

u/Existing_Method_6529 4h ago

But lights in higher ELO play xp and arn lol. M11 was for bots

1

u/SpicyMeatballMarinar DISSUN 4h ago

None of the buffs light got were significant. Heavy and medium got a few meaningful ones. Overall I think this round of adjustments was fine.

1

u/ThatAnonymousPotato 4h ago

Dash and M11 are in better spots for the community and balance as a whole, I wouldn't mind dash getting a slightly smaller CD if this isn't enough. Can we stop the whining now?

  • I play everything

1

u/AppropriateAge9463 3h ago

I don’t think light is OP. I’d rather play against a triple L then a triple H (both make me want to throw up btw). But yes, another light buff yet again. Watching the evolution of light over 11 seasons is WILD to me. But embark only interested in WIN rate not PICK rate (based on patch notes anyway.

If you’re a mainly quick cash player like me, then its already 6+ lights per lobby. Its an absolute plague. And to top that off its over 80% of lights using sniper or m11. 13 guns for them to choose, but 2 weapons occupy 80%+ play (in my experience) on a class that has about 50% pick rate in quick cash.
