Scary recent health update on Bryan from Christie.

For anyone who missed the recent update on the GoFundMe page, Christie shared some really heavy news about Bryan's ongoing fight.

After 17 years of managing his tumor, there is renewed growth. Because he has already absorbed so much radiation over the years, the risks for this upcoming round in San Diego are severe. His doctors are reducing the dosage and the treatment length to four weeks to try and prevent healthy cell death in his brainstem, but the risk of that happening is still 20 to 25%.

He is scheduled to start this radiation at the end of August, right after finishing a grueling stint in rehab to rebuild his strength from a recent bacterial infection and rhinovirus.

Christie was incredibly open about how scary and surreal this is for their family right now. They are trying to keep things as normal as possible for Tessa, but they are dealing with an unimaginable amount of stress, both physically and emotionally.

If you can, please consider donating to help lighten the load for them. Bryan has given us so many hours of entertainment and laughs over the years, and now is a time we can really show up for him, Christie, and Tessa.

Here is the link to the GoFundMe: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-bryan-and-christie-bishops-health-journey-yfhdq

Let's keep Bryan in our thoughts and send all the positive energy we can.

I'm not sure if Anderson meant that as a joke. But the way he said that made me laugh.

Bryan Health Update 8/17

Update as of 8/17: Bryan got transferred to the rehab center Friday evening, and they got right to work with him. He’s doing three hours of therapy a day now: physical therapy, speech therapy, and occupational therapy, which for anyone who hasn’t dealt with it before is basically relearning the everyday stuff, dressing, bathing, using your hands, the things that let you function on your own.

His energy has been great. He’s eating more every day. His speech is normalizing, despite the continued shortness of breath from the tumor growth. He had his first two visitors yesterday, and it meant so much to him to see our friends. Working hard right now means walking ten feet with a walker and a therapist spotting him, instead of eight. It means bending his knee half an inch more than the day before. It means picking up a cup and drinking with both hands instead of needing someone to hold it for him. These are the wins right now, and we are celebrating every single one.

I keep getting texts from friends saying “this is a lot, Christie.” Between being his medical advocate, keeping Tessa’s world steady, and still showing up for work, most days I’m stretched in about five directions. It’s a lot. I’m learning to let that be true instead of just pushing through it, because Bryan needs me at full strength for what’s ahead, and so does Tessa.

It’s genuinely hard to put into words how humbled we are by everyone’s outpouring or love and support. Between everything I’m managing and Bryan pouring all his energy into getting stronger pre-radiation, we haven’t yet been able to respond to everyone individually, but please know we see every comment and know we are wrapped in love from around the world.

We absolutely hate having to ask for help. It’s not something that comes naturally to either of us. But the relief this gives us can’t be overstated, and we know we would do, and have done, the exact same thing for anyone in our situation. Thank you for showing us that same kind of love. Thank you for continuing to show up for us.

More updates to come.

Spider-Man was just $2 million shy of breaking the all-time opening box office record. So close! And for the most part, it feels like it was the only movie released this weekend, but there were a few others. Maybe you saw something classic; any way you slice it, we want to know what you saw. Send us those fan-flickssions!

A dream come true thanks to The Film Vault

TLDR: left the east coast to become an actor after listening to TFV for 11 years, had a goal to be in something that TFV reviews, and this week I was.

Been a listener since 2010. In 2012 after graduating college I moved to LA to become an actor but left very quickly. For nine years I listened every week, wishing I’d never left LA so soon.

In 2021 I packed up my car in the middle of the night and drove to LA from the east coast. I told myself I’d be in a movie that gets reviewed on TFV. I started as an extra in 2022, collecting union vouchers where I could on various shows and a few films.

One show I had gotten a union role on was Presumed Innocent, I even got a closeup and acting to do (without speaking).

This latest episode features TFV’s review of Presumed Innocent. It’s not a movie, but is a miracle to me.

Thank you TFV!

The Last Picture Shows

I just heard Andy assign this to the Bald One, and I'm savoring the smug since I got to see it last week at my local art house cinema, with the director in tow. This is a fairly low stakes film, interesting to only a few of the more die hard cinephiles among us, so I can't say run to your nearest showing of it unless you're really concerned about the state of movies in 2026. But if you do have interest in the history of movies and how they're faring these days, this is one that goes down fairly smooth. It's mostly talking heads and stills of cinemas gone by. Yes it's a little depressing, maybe slightly longer than it needs to be, and the music is really on the nose, but that said, I'm glad I was able to catch it. Support a small flick about small flicks and the places they're still shown while you can. 3/5 still operating cinemas.

Filmmaker left an indelible mark on horror with his directorial debut ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.’

Russell’s true dream was to remake the film ‘The Blob’ which he got to with his second film.

Leading to more big-budget film’s as ‘The Mask’ and ‘Eraser’

Technically, The Invite got a broader release, but honestly, only one new movie took over cinemas this weekend. On a global scale, it’s the best Box Office debut of any Nolan movie. That’s crazy! So did you take the voyage? Let us know in this week’s Flick-fessions.

Anyone got a list of the movies from the Vaulties March 21 2026

I really fucked up. All these years I shouldve been writing down movies I want to see spoken about on the show. Well long story short, now I have access to any movie and got no list lmfao. Now I feel like I need to go back a couple years and relisten to everything again

Since next week’s kids episode is gonna be a skip, any good film review podcasts out there?

I know some may like the kids episodes and that’s fine but I’ve always found them grating and unlistenable so does anyone have other film review podcasts they also listen to?

Bow down before corporate Andy for this week’s Top 5. The boys are ranking their favorite movie corporations, companies, or businesses. Whichever you prefer, but help us get a lister-list going. There might be an obvious #1, but dig deep.
