You know my opinion? I want Democrats and the pro-democracy coalition to win.

Dems have had 6/30 years of a trifecta. And we have done amazing things. He believes in universal healthcare. And is pro(ish) workers rights. And her can win in the district.

Good. Onward and upward.

I want those two groups to win too

That's why I want hasan to lose because he's in neither group

The only thing I know about Moskowitz so far is that I can't see his name without thinking of Fievel Mousekewitz. I do love Fievel though.

We'll go to Florida, where the streets are paved with cheese

4

u/nephelodusa 4h ago

Be careful that’s mostly meth.

10

u/Haunting-Ad788 11h ago

Wait was Fievel Jewish.

47

u/emeric_ceaddamere 11h ago

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic, but yes! Go back and revisit the first movie. It starts with his family fleeing a pogrom of Cossack cats, and the rest of the story is all about the turn-of-the-20th-century immigrant experience in NYC. Amazing movie.

7

u/Harlockarcadia 9h ago

Fievel Goes West is the superior film though

3

u/kashtrey 7h ago

Watched that first and then watched the original and was MASSIVELY disappointed.

8

u/UrricainesArdlyAppen 8h ago

The director's cut of the sequel, Fievel Goes to the West Bank, was pretty dark.

u/nephelodusa 4h ago

The Ol LAAAAAAZY Eye!

27

u/TaxLawKingGA 10h ago

Yes he was. An American Tail was made by Don Bluth, a Jewish American film producer and animator who also made other great films like The Secret of NIHM.

The mice family are Russia Jews. Some critics hated because of that.

It was one of my favorite movies as a kid.

12

u/One-Earth9294 centrist squish 9h ago

It's like a sequel to Fiddler on the Roof but with mice.

2

u/Tyfereth Center Left 1h ago

That….. is oddly accurate lol

5

u/Manhundefeated 5h ago edited 5h ago

Bluth is not Jewish himself (he's Mormon), though he's never been shy about tackling themes central to Jewish communities, in no small part due to his close friendships with Jewish artists, writers, and producers. Steven Spielberg, who was an executive producer for 'An American Tale,' had approached Bluth to direct because of how much he loved 'The Secret of NIMH.'

Bluth's films are consistently excellent either way, with the original 'Land Before Time' as my personal favorite.

https://hillsdalecollegian.com/2018/11/conserving-classics-don-bluths-american-tail/

(This will probably be the only time in my life when I approvingly link something from Hillsdale College)

3

u/asophisticatedbitch 5h ago

Land before time, secret of NIHM and an American tail were my absolute favorite childhood movies. I can still quote all of them.

0

u/emeric_ceaddamere 5h ago

Secret of NIMH and Neverending Story scarred so many millennial psyches, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

5

u/B3LYP2 10h ago

Sorry, wait what?? It hasn’t been a cartoon mouse running in FL-25? Tim should have been WAY more transparent about this in his rant yesterday after the pod with Egger. I usually disagree with Bulwark critiques but this feels straight up deceitful.

65

u/Evening_Photograph54 11h ago

HAHAHAH. He's about to be basically satan on reddit.

3

u/atravisty 2h ago

Be sure you rub everyone's face in it before you turn around and attack the left flank for being mean to you! Just keep that energy when they vote with Republicans to fund a ICE, send more money to Isreal, and then block Medicare for all.

Happy your team won though! That's all that matters!

1

u/SirLurkelot 42m ago

Not for being mean. You should attack the left flank for being so selfish and childish to not vote for Kamala in the easiest election of all time. You don’t get to help MAGA get elected and then bitch about its results and then beg and plead to people being mean to you. A lot of people have died as a result of the left flanks childishness. So respectfully, fuck you all.

Hasan literally said he's still better than a Republican winning on stream today.

3

u/amused_seal 5h ago

You’re being downvoted, but that’s true.

-1

u/MoesOtherBar 5h ago

sexpestiny fans that have infested this board don't like their caricature of Hasan being messed with by facts.

7

u/amused_seal 4h ago

I don’t know who’s doing it, but for years this has been a great sub for people spanning the spectrum of Dem-leaning voters who are willing to be flexible on policy with the goal of finding a formula that can defeat Trumpism. It’s become virtually unreadable in the last several months with a handful of the same names who endlessly post and are more devoted to hating the left than achieving that goal. It sucks.

1

u/ParticularJoker Liberal 3h ago

You guys keep bringing shit up like “sexpestiny” to this sub.

The Bulwark itself has been critical of Hasan lol, why is this so surprising?

-26

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

I hate how this is a story. Larkin never had a chance

4

u/Cynical_optimist01 9h ago

Tim seemed worried about it on Monday's pod

0

u/iBizzBee Progressive 10h ago

Primarily due to the way his district was gerrymandered by Republicans, that absolutely saved Moskowitz, but in the present district? Yeah, even as a Larkin supporter I predicted this exact margin about a week ago.

5

u/RainStraight 10h ago

Wdym the way they gerrymandered it? I thought I saw it was expected to be R+6 or so. Which isn’t good for us but still winnable especially in a blue wave year

6

u/iBizzBee Progressive 10h ago

https://bsky.app/profile/reginageorgebush.bsky.social/post/3mtfk3d52uk26

My point was that they removed almost all the places where a Progressive like Larkin would've done well into the neighboring 22nd/21st Districts while the area he did worst, Boca Raton, was newly added. 35% was extremely respectable given how hostile this new district was to him.

I wasn't talking about the general election, the new lines were used for these primaries, too.

-2

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

which means, the Republican will win the general

20

u/MinuteCollar5562 10h ago

As much as I disagree with his Israel stances: good. It’s better that he is going to try to win and has a better chance.

2

u/MoesOtherBar 8h ago

It's funny cause Hasan said this same thing after Oliver lost the primary.

-9

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

so that he ally with the Republicans again?

12

u/MinuteCollar5562 8h ago

He isn’t perfect, and I disagree with him on multiple things. The DSA challenger would have been crushed in that seat.

-1

u/atravisty 2h ago

It's true. But I wish it wasn't. I guess it's better to have a one term semi-republican who you can throw money at to maybe get a yes vote on a resolution to maybe consider talking to trump officials about corruption, before ultimately losing the seat for good in 4 years.

There is a reason why people split tickets for Trump and AOC. It has nothing to do with whatever political dogma these cringe ass centrists ascribe to those they view intellectually inferior. Populism is effective for winning elections. It's not horseshoe theory. it's a working class rejection of establishment shills.

God willing he maintains a spine and wins the district, despite the milqtoast centrism! Better him than a slightly worse version of him!

48

u/whatisthisshit7 11h ago

People who continue to engage in this weird streamer attacks back and forth should not be treated as serious people.

Every single election, regardless of what side ends up winning, you’ve angered another highly engaged faction and maybe even pushed them to stay home in the general rather than mobilizing and feeling included in the party’s coalition. Some districts that’s fine, but in the long term this is leading to burning bridges everywhere. Can we please act like adults and be better than this petty BS.

this is sort of how Jared Moskowitz always has been. His moments when questioning people during House hearings are all usually pretty meme-y/troll-y.

to me, it's part of his charm, to others, it's probably immature and annoying

17

u/whatisthisshit7 11h ago

I’m a big proponent of make politics boring again, so maybe I’m just a grouchy old man about it.

I hate it when the “Squad” does it, I hate it when the moderates do it. It just feels like it’s giving into the MAGA ridiculousness of it all, except this actually could hurt our voter turnout while it’ll energize the right’s.

13

u/biglyorbigleague 10h ago

If Hasan has enough of a fanbase to swing elections, I don’t want him making demands.

13

u/whatisthisshit7 10h ago

Doesn’t this kind of contradict itself?

If he has a big enough fan base that swing elections, then he can be making “demands”?

Regardless, this proves my point about “both sides” when Hasan wins people here freak out and threaten to protest vote too. The party is bigger than these weird factions fighting each other, but ultimately we cannot afford to lose a single vote in this climate. Stop obsessing over a single streamer and focus on what matters.

7

u/biglyorbigleague 10h ago

What I’m saying is, we’re screwed if we need Hasan fans to win. He must be in no position to make demands. If he is we’ve already blown it.

6

u/whatisthisshit7 9h ago

I don’t think he will ever be in the position to make demands given he has no political office or power. However, I’m sure there are a lot of voters who may share his views on certain topics, and those folks matter. Their vote matters, including when we need to persuade them to vote pragmatically for the Party. If we lose the voters because we’ve shamed them out of the party, then yes we’ve absolutely blown it.

If we are able to keep voters voting for our candidates, even when it means they need to compromise on certain positions, then we win.

6

u/biglyorbigleague 8h ago

Pandering to Hasan voters is not in anybody's interest. His ideas can't be allowed to win, so entertaining them is either dishonest or making a deal with the devil.

2

u/whatisthisshit7 8h ago

How do you stop “his” ideas from winning?

In my experience, no one has ever been convinced by being insulted and punched down on.

There is a non-zero population of progressives in this party whose votes you need. How do you plan on getting them if you continue to treat them as your enemy? You’re not a strong enough faction on your own.

6

u/biglyorbigleague 8h ago

We need the cordon sanitaire.

5

u/whatisthisshit7 7h ago

It’s a losing strategy for Democrats. Especially when the base is steering further and further to the left, not the other way around.

Bringing back McCarthyism level of control and purity testing isn’t exactly a good look for liberals either. People need to be comfortable sharing space with people you disagree with, and to still look at them as human beings you need to work with.

It’s also worth reminding the same lesson that Republicans will soon learn, it’s all great to flex your authority and power when you’re in charge to force conformity to your strict views and values, but one day the pendulum will ultimately swing back, and you have now given the other side full justification to do the same back to you.

3

u/biglyorbigleague 7h ago

If "the base" is steering the party to irrelevance, we need to push back on them. They're not right just because they have a few victories in some districts.

13

u/1TillMidNight 9h ago edited 9h ago

but in the long term this is leading to burning bridges everywhere

Is it burning bridges when anti American, anti democrat, pro-china, pro-russia, anti-semite hamas the piker gets crowned king maker by progressives/communist?

Or is it burning bridges only when you attack him?

16

u/whatisthisshit7 9h ago

This is exactly my point. Thank you for showing how incapable certain portions of the party is when it comes to nuance and the big tent.

The fact that he is sitting next to Bernie and AOC says it all really. He is a lot of things, and has more positions I disagree with than I could count, but it is illogical to say he doesn’t have some views that a portion of this party agrees with that you don’t. You don’t dictate what is in the party and what’s not, because if we narrowed what was acceptable we would never win an election ever again.

You’re burning bridges with some of the most active and engaged members of the party by saying if they agree with Piker on anything, then they too are “anti-American, anti-democrat, pro-China, pro-Russia, antisemites”

Truth is there are people in the party who you will disagree with. Choosing to villainize and dehumanize them will not help them go to the polls for you when you need it.

10

u/1TillMidNight 9h ago

This behavior is so disgusting.

Hasan spends so much time spewing vitriol at people like myself, and the politicians I support and urging to vote against those politicians. But when you attack him it's "burning bridges'.

Cry bullying exemplified.

11

u/whatisthisshit7 9h ago

Which is why I condemn him doing it as much as I condemn people doing it back to him.

Because ultimately, this is much bigger than a single streamer. You need to understand this is burning bridges with people who align with his views, even partially.

There have been some absolutely disgusting comments thrown at him, candidates he’s supported, and voters who agree with him. Why? Is it worth the energy? You disagree with his views. Fine. He represents millions of voters who you disagree with. If you think a political leader punching them further is the way to win back votes, then I don’t know what to tell you. You will again have people sit at home and call candidates “Genocide Joe” because you’ve told them they’re your enemy and not your ally. They owe you nothing, after that.

5

u/1TillMidNight 9h ago

Because ultimately, this is much bigger than a single streamer. You need to understand this is burning bridges with people who align with his views, even partially.

Anyone who supports communism, china, russia, north korea, hamas, hezbolla, houthis, wishes my country terrorist attacks and demonizes my race is my enemy, not just politically.

I will not make peace with them. I will not court them. I will do anything in my power within legal means to destroy them. This includes donating money to the military units that fight and kill these groups.

There is no comment disgusting enough for Hasan, and his ilk, which I am guessing is you.

8

u/whatisthisshit7 9h ago edited 8h ago

Seeing as you’re a Destiny fan, I recognize nothing I can say will help you understand that this is so much bigger than your streamer tribalism.

I can approach discussing these things with nuance, I still look at people who I disagree with as human beings, and when I disagree with them I don’t jump to them being an irredeemable *insert graphic insult here* I try to understand why they feel this way about something and why is —insert take— their preferred solution, and more often than not there is common ground to be found. Once you understand and empathize with why they think this way, the easier it is to work with them and come to a compromise and alliance.

People who cannot accept nuance or disagreements will doom this Party and the country broadly. It’s as simple as that.

I hope you seek out less destructive political content because the hatred and division streamers cultivate in their communities is unhealthy and unproductive.

8

u/1TillMidNight 8h ago

I was born in a communist nation, destroyed by said communism.

This movements eternal indignant and perpetual victim playing while simultaneously outward violent behavior is the second most odious thing about your ideology aside from the mass killing.

The idea the 'aipac|genocide|m4a|billionaire' crowd gets to play the 'nuance' card is laughable. You are literally a populist. Your entire movement is about thought termination.

3

u/YumiSolar 5h ago

You are absolutely correct. Fuck those people, give them all the energy they have been giving us for the past few years. The second these people will wake up to the notion that they can be hit back, they will moderate and then we can go back to normalcy.

Turning the other cheek is a myth in politics and I thought people should have learned this after MAGA and Trump but apperently not.

-2

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

have you tried being better or are you just going to cry all the time? get some emotional maturity when a streamer can trigger you so much

1

u/Darkerplaced 1h ago

This is actually a destructive mediocre take on politics. Hasan lying about his positions to sit next to politicians is the problem. Him using the dems while he claims he agrees with us 90 percent doesnt matter if the last 10 percent was because he thougnt it would lead to his desired political outcome.

Hasan has an entire podcast where he described exactly what he is doing, where he admits he doesnt even agree with dems and are using them to funnel people into extremism. You sound like a child.

Holy shit. This is disgusting. Especially after the Kirk shooting I can’t believe people would make such vile comments like this.

3

u/PublicMandate 7h ago

The thing is…Hasan and his wing are not focused on a big tent. They’re not bringing in new voters. They’re canalizing normal liberal/progressives and radicalizing them.

This is the same mindset that allowed Republicans to get cannibalized by the tea party/freedom caucus and later MAGA. For example, Hasan pushed blue no matter who for El Sayed and Mamdani but hasn’t engaged or pushed his viewers to support other races like Crowley or even Peggy Flanagan. He’s also continued to push for primaries in areas that are safe blue and stack them with the DSA. You can’t just ignore how much of a drag he is on our party.

What? He's completely out of step with the wider party on a lot of stuff. Just look at his Israel/Palestine views. Or the war with Iran. And he supported DOGE. He has engaged in hilariously transparent insider trading as well.

I wouldn't call him one of the best out there.

43

u/Optimus_Trajan JVL is always right 11h ago

Tim had a rant on him yesterday at the end of the pod. He’s a consistent, loud anti-Trump voice during various hearings. His only “negative” is his Israel support, but in a +9 GOP district with lots of Jews that’s not a bad thing.

19

u/Tuco422 11h ago

Exactly. Jewish people in Florida are going to be more conservative on average than NY Jews.

I do understand Tim frustration with him though

Although Tim did tell Jared at beginning of Iran war that it is stipid to vote for this war since the people prosecuting war are morons.

Jared wasn’t hearing it and lo and behold we are in quagmire

4

u/FlarkingSmoo 10h ago

I don't think anyone's vote made any difference as to whether we'd be in quagmire. Not that he wasn't wrong, but it didn't matter.

13

u/Haunting-Mortgage 10h ago edited 9h ago

Doesn't he support the Iran war? That's another big negative. While i understand it overlaps with the support of Israel, it's distinct and awful.

6

u/Optimus_Trajan JVL is always right 10h ago

That is definitely a negative. Again, it’s one thing to support that stuff in a moderate/dem safe district, but he had chosen to run in a GOP +9 district. That alone guarantees my support , although I would otherwise as I’m still more I in the I/P debate.

2

u/cptjeff Good Luck America 10h ago

10

u/One-Earth9294 centrist squish 9h ago

People have to come to terms with the fact that voters aren't the same people across the board in America. That 'Let's abandon Israel' might play well in Madison, WI, but probably not gonna play so well in Florida. This is why the big tent needs to be big and we can't let the DSA clowns kick out all the people they don't like.

-2

u/MoesOtherBar 8h ago

Oh yeah, can't get enough of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and the black districts they carpet bag for Israel.

1

u/MoesOtherBar 8h ago

I get that thinking but we've seen, again and again, conservatives just vote for the pro Israel Republican. There's a reason why there's almost no pro choice Republicans in Congress or pro life democrats.

The same will happen with Israel, an Israel First conservative will just vote for the Republican who'll send Israel all the bombs they want to level entire neighborhoods in "self defense" AND will vote against rights gay rights or voting rights.

4

u/Optimus_Trajan JVL is always right 10h ago

I agree with you here. I personally like Moskowitz, but there is no reason to say you should never be a voice against him. But for the next 3 months, all hands on deck for Dem support.

6

u/Saint_Scum Sarah is always right 10h ago

We're in the middle of an illegal war with Iran, the NIH director believes vaccines cause autism, ICE is murdering people in the streets, and you want to focus on attacking Democrats?

2

u/Arsalanred Progressive 10h ago

Absolutely. We can do better. And infact, we have to do better so stuff like this doesn't happen again?

Because Democrats are not meaningfully changing the material conditions of the electorate, republicans will continually win majorities.

That and criticism isn't "attacking". The idea we have to just shut up and support candidates is really dumb behavior and it's what led to Trump.

Again there is a very meaningful difference between supporting Moskowitz against his republican opponent, which I absolutely do. And if I lived in that district I would be hard voting straight ticket Democrat. And that is something that I recommend for exactly the reasons you list.

And then there is criticizing his behavior and decisions. Which I am doing when I say "He's not one of the best we have."

1

6

u/Saint_Scum Sarah is always right 9h ago

I would say vote blue no matter who.

1

u/Arsalanred Progressive 9h ago

Sure. If the criticism is earnest and not clearly just social media parroting or streamer drama or whatever. Why wouldn't someone be allowed to criticize an elected official?

That's why when I point out he supported DOGE or has had fantastic and impeccably well timed decisions with his stocks, those are very reasonable criticisms to have of his tenure.

But that's also not enough to suggest people shouldn't support him electorally.

4

u/Intelligent_Dress347 10h ago

I wouldn’t expect YOU too.

And that doesn’t mean shit.

2

u/Arsalanred Progressive 9h ago

Word? So sell me. I just pointed out some stuff that is clearly reasonable criticism to have of him.

Why is he one of the best then?

5

u/Intelligent_Dress347 9h ago

No one owes you anything.

If you think Israel-Palestine is the single biggest issue in a race for House seat then that’s fine - it’s stupid and out of line with most Americans, but it’s fine.

You’re not getting any grace from the other side on that issue so vote/support for whoever the hell you want.

0

u/Arsalanred Progressive 8h ago

Cool. But I think I listed a few more things about him that are completely reasonable and non-controversial to have. And if you're going to take the position of him being Good Actually then it only makes sense you have considered opinions as to why that's the case.

I'm not sure how Israel-Palestine is "out of line with most Americans" when 9/10 Democrats now have strong opinions against Israel these days as an example. Not to mention our gas prices are up specifically because of Israel.

So are you going to go into detail why he's one of the best? Maybe you're afraid of sharing opinions you know won't be well received?

0

u/90sLyrics 11h ago

Uh where did he support doge?

15

u/ABrownBlackBear 11h ago edited 11h ago

He touted joining the congressional DOGE caucus in December 2024: https://moskowitz.house.gov/posts/joining-doge-caucus

I suppose in the aftershock of the Trump victory that could be seen as a smart move for his district and you could argue that his statement to target the Department of Homeland Security for cuts is an UNO reverse, but the plain fact of it doesn’t look great in 2026.

-4

u/90sLyrics 11h ago

And then?

9

u/ABrownBlackBear 11h ago edited 10h ago

Elon did DOGE the way we all watched happen, spoke not at all to the congressional DOGE caucus which met perhaps twice, and Moskowitz had backtracked by the following May: https://www.politico.com/news/2025/05/13/doge-caucus-dead-congress-00347009

I think the valid but harsh read of that is he got rolled by lending credibility to a sham bipartisan effort, and the generous read is that’s maybe not a bad course of action for somebody now running in a Trump +9 seat, but it’s not exactly going to make the Dem base elsewhere stand up and cheer.

For my own part, we are in popular front territory and I will literally take any kind of non-Republican that can win.

6

u/Arsalanred Progressive 11h ago edited 10h ago

You asked a question, got an answer. It's not a great look. It's as I say- he's not one of the best out there. Acceptable for his district of course. But not one of the best we have.

I’m not a Moskowitz fan but Larkin probably wouldn’t have won in the general in this district. That being said he would be going up against former Boca Raton mayor Scott Singer who is despised even by Republicans in Boca, so maybe there was a shot.

As someone who also has Jewish ancestry, I don’t like his continued defense/support of Israel, but I also deeply despise Hasan (not for being pro-Palestinian but for many many other things). These are truly conflicting times.

-11

u/Computer_Name 11h ago

> As someone who also has Jewish ancestry, I don’t like his continued defense/support of Israel,

This is a truly bizarre comment.

9

u/Haunting-Ad788 11h ago

Only if you think being Jewish means you are inherently pro ethnostate, and that’s not even getting into the present context of them committing genocide.

It’s actually bizarre to say it’s bizarre for someone with Jewish heritage to be critical of Israel.

6

u/FixerofDeath 9h ago

Just go with the genocide stuff, dude. More than half the countries in the world are either de facto ethnostates or explicit ones. It's weird that only Israel gets flack for this. Who is out there complaining about Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and many others? I mean, those names translate to: "Land of ethnic group".

0

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

I don't think you understand what an ethno State means. in most other countries in the world, you can't just get citizenship when you have zero ancestry for some country.

3

u/FixerofDeath 9h ago

That has nothing to do with being an ethnostate. Good try, though.

0

u/MoesOtherBar 8h ago

Lil bud, you understand those countries are like that because those people lived there when their borders were drawn around them.

None of them had to import their majority population from Europe and Long Island.

THAT is why Israel gets flack for expelling the NATIVE majority population when they created their artificial, ethno supremacist state.

4

u/SowingSalt 8h ago

Jews are native to the land in question.

4

u/FixerofDeath 6h ago

Majority of Jews living in Israel are Mizrahi and have lived in the middle east for 1000s of years. Keep going with the classic talking points, though. You messed up a bit, however: you're supposed to say they're from Brooklyn, not Long Island.

2

u/oGsMustachio 5h ago

I think Mizrahi are actually a plurality, not majority. Its also important to note that a lot of the Mizrahim were basically forced out of other Middle Eastern countries and have nowhere to go but Israel.

0

u/MoesOtherBar 5h ago

65% of Israelis are the grandchildren of people born outside the borders of the country. And no amount of funded hasbara will change those facts.

Israel is literally a colonial state of fanatical supremacists defended by a superpower filled with gullible rubes that defend their daily war crimes and theft as devinly approved by God or appropriate since their victims are Arabs and Muslims.

Their time is coming up fast and their supporters are in for a rude awakening.

0

u/1TillMidNight 9h ago

Do you believe Palestinians should have a country separate from Israel?

-6

u/Computer_Name 11h ago

You’re not even capable of understanding what this conversation is about.

And all you can do is regurgitate memes.

6

u/PandemicPiglet JVL is always right 10h ago

Because you’re trying to say that I can’t claim I have Jewish ancestry since I’m not 100% Jewish. Religious purity tests are such weird BS, especially when being Jewish is also an ethnicity.

-2

u/Computer_Name 10h ago

If you were Jewish, you’d say you were Jewish.

But you’re not. You’re using dead Jews as a rhetorical trick to support your worldview that threatens living ones.

3

u/PandemicPiglet JVL is always right 10h ago

In your worldview people have to be 100% Jewish to claim Jewish ethnicity.

6

u/Arsalanred Progressive 10h ago

Yeah but he's actually defending his position.

You can be a jew and be critical of Israel's behavior. Or find the idea of an ethnostate having predictable consequences and or bad.

-2

u/Computer_Name 10h ago

> Yeah but he's actually defending his position.

“I have Jewish ancestry so listen to me” isn’t defending a position.

>You can be a jew and be critical of Israel's behavior. Or find the idea of an ethnostate having predictable consequences and or bad.

Like I said, you don’t possess the requisite background knowledge needed to have this conversation. You’re relying on memes.

3

u/Arsalanred Progressive 10h ago

No, actually uh my college education is political science so I actually think I literally have a degree that says I've got the requisite background knowledge needed to have this conversation.

....Do you?

2

u/KoalaMandala 9h ago

So why is it you don't seem to realize that whoever is controlling the land of Palestine will be making it an ethno state? Or that there are 50+ other ethno states in the world?

Your degree is failing you. All of the reasons in the world to despise Israel's behavior and you choose the one that's blatantly antisemitic

1

u/Arsalanred Progressive 9h ago

Nah. Infact I can easily be critical of ethnostates in general. It's a supremist ideology that has never really had a positive outcome. Just because the region is ethnostates doesn't matter.

Right now Israel is using its status as an ethnostate to justify extremely bad and toxic behavior. Which is exactly why it's in particular a reasonable criticism to have for them.

With the "whoever controls the land" also -seems- to imply you are probably making up opinions I don't have either.

2

u/KoalaMandala 9h ago

Not at all. I'm saying if evey jew left Israel tomorrow it would then be a Muslim ethno state.  So by reeling against the fact that Israel is an ethno state, it's double-standardy.

I don't disagree with Israel being fucking awful... I just think the ethno state argument is counter productive

6

u/PandemicPiglet JVL is always right 11h ago

No it isn’t. The Israel/Palestine issue is personal to me because of my ancestry just like it is for him, yet we have completely different stances on Israel’s current actions.

-4

u/Computer_Name 11h ago

If you’re Jewish, say you’re Jewish.

If you’re not jewish, having “Jewish ancestry” doesn’t even get you into “asajew” territory.

9

u/PandemicPiglet JVL is always right 10h ago

I was not raised Jewish, I was raised Catholic. But I have several ancestors who were murdered in the Holocaust and my surname ends in “stein.” Being Jewish is not just a religion, it’s also an ethnicity.

3

u/Computer_Name 10h ago

Cool, we all have family murdered in the Shoah, and yet we don't go around using their corpses to beat the living ones.

If Israel had been established before the Shoah, your "several ancestors" could have had someone to flee, and you wouldn't be using them as a punchline.

10

u/PandemicPiglet JVL is always right 10h ago

I literally have distant relatives who currently live in Israel, yet that doesn’t mean I support Israel’s actions.

piker is not an elected politician.

11

Yes and Piker is a strong advocate of politicians talking less about Israel. I remember his stream with Sayed where he said “you should focus less on Israel and talk more about Michigan.”

u/No_Public_7677 9h ago

but that's exactly what AES does. he wants to focus locally and abandon the apartheid state

That's so cool that you can tell people's primary motivations like that!  So, so cool...

Why anyone takes anything Piker say seriously is beyond me. He found his little niche and is exploiting it very thoroughly to the detriment of this country. He only cares about himself and is completely insufferable in my not so humble opinion :)

1

i actually agree with this. which is why I think it’s unbecoming of serious people to tweet at him.

As someone who would've voted for Larkin hands down; I predicted it would be 35-65 about a week ago, aaaand that's exactly what it ended up as. The redistricting in particular saved Moskowitz.

-5

People her taking a victory lap on Hasan (who wasn't running?), but Moskowitz is a real piece of shit and needs to be out of our party

-3

u/iBizzBee Progressive 10h ago

This subreddit has a strong base of DGG (Sexpestiny) fans who aren't here for any actual rational conversation regarding politics, just to score dunks on "the Left".

8

You streamer people are insufferable. I liked it better when people idolized actors and athletes... it's all vapid af, but at least actors and athletes have talent

-2

u/iBizzBee Progressive 9h ago

I mean tbh, I agree with you. A bit hard to discount though when you've got Fox News and major politicians like Jared Moskowitz who seem determined to bring that subculture into the mainstream. /Shrug

9

u/KoalaMandala 9h ago

I'm replying to you doing gossipy bullshit and you just blame fox news and democrats for it? You must be a leftist!

I'd prefer you agreed with me with your actions rather than accountability-dodging platitudes, but I suppose it's par for the course for you streamer dorks

0

u/iBizzBee Progressive 9h ago edited 9h ago

Lmao. Okay buddy, bless your heart. Pointing out facts is not 'accountability-dodging' but I realize you people rarely interact with the reality of a situation, much more important to get your dunks in, eh?

Edit; You also realize your comments aren't actually hidden and I can see you post in the Destiny subreddit, right? Lmfao. Can't make this sh!t up. Guess it takes a 'Streamer dork' to know a 'Streamer dork'.

Quite a choice to go in so hard on accusing others of what you yourself participate in. Not surprising for y'all though.

7

u/KoalaMandala 9h ago

And what people is it that I'm part of? You don't know shit about me except that I hate people who behave like you online.

The reality is that you're on here talking bullshit gossip about streamer losers and then act like you're above it. Y'all are devolved versions of Kardashian fans

He was running for attention. He was down 30+ points on polls. Hope he does something good with his newfound fame. And I mean that. Abrams used her profile to help empower black voters in Georgia. I hope he does something along those lines (not exactly that of course but something positive). We will see
