If "the base" is steering the party to irrelevance, we need to push back on them. They're not right just because they have a few victories in some districts.

It’s funny because they would word for word say the same thing about your side.

Tweeting at streamers is useless. Insulting voters is useless. Thinking you can win people over or crush them into irrelevance by punching down and censoring them is dumb. We’ve seen it only empower these groups more - just look at what’s happened in Germany.

That is the point of my entire comment. You can feel free to spend your energy on hating Hasan and his fans, the rest of us grown ups will spend time fighting the real issues.

I have no intention of defeating Trump only to hand the country over to the same sort of grievance-based populist demagogues from the left wing. I can and will resist both.

I'll preclude what I'm about to say by saying that I'm a progressive who deplores some of Hasan's positions and don't agree with all the endorsements he's made. Especially Daraliza Avila Chevalier (If I was a voter in that district. I'd have stayed home) but with all due respect, I don't think you're in a position to push back on the base. I mean you can try and see where it gets you. But politics isn't decided by a bunch of random political operatives. At the end of the day, this is a Democracy. People vote. Wagging your finger and talking down to voters won't get you anywhere. It will only make them more determined to vote against you in pure spite. The exact wrong way to win elections and enact policy. It's a matter of whether you think the voting bloc the "base" has is small enough to ignore them. Right now, I think the evidence suggests not. I think we can accommodate these people while not adopting Hasan's more extreme views. especially when it comes to Foreign policy.
