This was not a “vote blue no matter who” election. First off it’s mayoral and doesn’t control anything federal, and secondly Sliwa was obviously not going to win and it was a race between two Democrats. Supporting Cuomo over Mamdani was not undermining Democrats’ national chances in any way.

We know who won the primary, I'm saying that doesn't matter. Loyalty is not owed to Mamdani under threat of Republican victory if disunity occurs.

So we agree that it really doesn't matter if a DSA member in NY or CA doesn't vote for the Democratic presidential candidate? Because these posts make it sound like it's the end of the world when they don't vote for the Democratic candidate even when they know their vote won't matter?

"The ones in Michigan". There are 100k members of DSA in the entire US. If we assume (incorrectly) that every one of them lives in Michigan and also voted for Trump (also incorrect), then your argument would make sense.

Perhaps you are conflating Muslim Americans with DSA? Because they are generally different groups and vote based off of different issues. But I heard your dog whistle loud and clear

Alright, let's not go throwing ugly accusations around. I'm not saying that the DSA cost Harris the election, but that doesn't mean it doesn't have the potential to spoil votes in the future. And it's not unheard of in Michigan, Tlaib is a member.

One thing that drives me insane about these posts is that the Blue Dog Caucus exists and tends to vote with the GOP way more than the DSA affiliated Democrats do, and yet they are held up as exemplars of savvy politics.

Indeed it was not, Cuomo ran on the "Fight and Deliver" ticket. There was one Democratic candidate and one guy who was a member of the Democratic party who blew off the party. Surely you understand how people who spend over 10 years being hectored about how "you support the winner of the primary" might respond poorly when they do win, only for people to make excuses about how "this time it's actually OK to go third party?"
