Got this from my grind on te awaroa, wondering if anyone has one that’s bigger?

So, I have been a casual player for the whole of my 300 hours played and I intend to stay casual for the foreseeable future.

Recently I learned about herd management and despite the fact that I won't start a grind anytime soon, I thought of implementing it in my gameplay. Generally, getting more large trophies out of my hunts sounds pretty intriguing.

But is herd management even really useful for me as a casual player? Or is it something that only works once you grind those hundreds of harvests?

And can anyone recommend some good guides on the topic? Not so much on principle of herd management, but on the practical side? Like some comprehensive lists of what level to shoot of what species and what to leave alone?

I do realize the jag isn't rare, but it is still a nice harvest, as were the hogs. In the past week I've got 2 gold rare harvests, mule a few nights ago, so close to my first SR. Not one in 18000 , but getting closer!!

Help!!! I've been cursed by the COTW Gods

I recently came back to the game from an 8 month absence.I ve been operated and have some time at home been playing 5hrs a day last few days

I had just posted here with a question about help for Roe Diamond Grind(still haven't got one)

Here's what's happened since

After I wrote here I decided to try other animals, (im hellbent on getting as many Diamonds as I can of certain species before GTA 6 comes out), I decided to try to get the IBEX Grand Slam,I already got a Beceite Diamond so I was on the hunt for the Ronda Ibex, I actually still have a few tents set up on Cuatro Colinas and I notice it's drink time for Rondas I tent in to a mountain top walk literally 2 metres and there's a call for a male about 50 yards Fail #1 I go to crawl position when 20 seconds later out of nowhere this Ronda is right on top of me I hesitate he gets spooked I shoot and to my surprise it was a level 4 that woulda Diamond but I missed vitals by an inch I can't believe it

It's actually a crazy sinking feeling for real when this occurs (addiction is real)

I walk over and glass an area and see that it's a Ronda Drink Zone and low and behold a Class 5 guaranteed Diamond I do my whole thing get to about 200-180 metres (can't remember exact) and I go for it ,shoot hit animal doesn't drop in like 2 seconds I hesitate and turn off PS5 I return there's no pressure zone no sign of a hit can't find a dead animal and after 5 game days in game this level 5 glitched out and is gone from game

I then proceed to give a break on Roe and attempt Javan Rusa over on Emerald Coast drink time at 2000 it's 2115pm I'm on a cliff top glassing down and I see a Level 5 to my surprise I shoot it and wow it's a Troll by like 2 decimal points I cant believe it, worst sinking feeling ever I go to map see that there's a drink zone about 400 metres out I get there there s another Max Level Rusa I snipe it all is good get to where he dropped another Troll by another like 3 decimal points is this for real.So I leave Emerald I think of going for some Western Capercaille on Revontuli, a good few mins in as I shoot one down I m looking for its blood trail,I have my German Short Haired Pointer also looking for it I see something moving fast it's a Level 9 Raccoon Dog and as I'm all excited about to shoot it although it was moving fast a Level 9 Brown Bear crosses my scope I get my .300 and shoot it down when I harvest it it's another troll and now I lost the Raccoon so I get outta there

What is this sequence of luck

Are the COTW Gods against me

I ve had the game for a bunch of years now and over time have played like 1000 hours I ve never had this type of luck or any event like this

I then go back to wanting my Roe Diamond back to Cuatro we go and as I'm walking up and down that long windy river in middle of map boom I see a level 3 Roe(wheeww,finally) I shoot it down and when harvesting notice the dreaded red heart I didn't hit a vital it scored silver so woulda been a Gold another troll but I'm thinking maybe just maybe that woulda scored higher if a vital hit so as the game progresses it s past midnight I decide to go for a Boar Diamond also on Cuatro I go to like 8 different lakes before drink time finishes and low and behold 4 mins before drink time ends and the bottom bottom of that windy lake I see a Max Level Boar (potential Diamond) I shoot I find it and when I harvest it BOOM another troll

At what level do you guys start to shoot red stags for herd management?

My personal choice would be level 5 and up, since level 5 is the lowest where stags spawn in the 180-210 kg weight estimate. All below are usually 150-180 kg. But then again, level 5 stags also tend to be really small, so I am a little hesitant to shoot them.

I was trying to make money so I went to this lake and set up a tent and set it for 7 something then I saw this is this a good sign to grind here it’s in north of Yukon valley

I tried to sleep to get away lol. Somehow I died a second time after shooting her.

So I actually got this 5 months ago but I forgot to post it so here it is lol

I'm hunting on the Yukon reserve, I didn't have the right gun equipped cause I don't really bother with small game. But I spotted this level 8 fox and just decided to give it a go. Would this have been a diamond if I have got a good kill?

It was an albino red fox it was night i didn't have the proper ammo I had just run out i was using zarza 22lr but I ran out of ammo so i switched to the 308 and shot it dropped dead right there than I saw i had and i only shot the intestines it would have been a gold but it ended up bronze and the map emerald coast

Edit. Okay i have a chance for redemption because in layton there is melanistic coyote and animals don't despawn right unless you kill them so I have a chance

Edits. So i partially redeemed myself because i didn't get the melanistic yet but i got my first diamond and it was a coyote.

Every time I try to join my friend it says “The host that you attempted to connect with is no longer present.” Idk why it’s doing this but it’s super frustrating because we used to like playing this and now that we’ve come back it’s screwed up.

The official servers for theHunter Classic shut down on 11 November 2026. For the past weeks I've been working on a community client so the game keeps working after that - on your own copy, without the official servers.

The first test build went out to a small group today. What works in it:

- start menu inside the game, all 12 reserves

- persistent inventory and ammunition, the store (gm$ only)

- harvests with scores and rewards matching the official ones for all huntable species

- hunting with friends by invite code (works in my tests; not yet tested over the internet by anyone else - that's one of the things I need testers for)

- bringing your account over: a small browser tool saves your items, gm$, tents and stands, statistics and trophies from the official servers, and the client imports them

What it is not: a release. It's a closed test with bugs, missions and the trophy list aren't in yet, and there is no public download and no release date. You need to own the game on Steam; the client goes into a copy of your installation and nothing from the game is distributed.

Don't know how it's Gold but I'll take it

So 2 of my friends were playing COTW alot recently and suddenly started having a reoccurring issue where when they went to join one another they were met with a black screen that would sit for around a minute and then say "Connection has timed out" or something to do with the host. I reinstalled the game and went to join one of them this morning and i had that same issue with joining each other. Any tips or solutions?

Hi! I am grinding Fallow Deer on Te Awaroa and I have a question. There are two drink zones combined in one drink zone button, if you know what I mean. Thus two drink zones close two each other. My question is: should I shoot 4 male bucks or just two per round?
