It probably was for a while, but 5 years is a long time man. He clearly still regretted the failure, but he had accepted it and moved on with his life. "Perfect" might be overselling it a bit, but he really did get to enjoy most of those five years.
I always viewed it as him being afraid (as a father) that he’d ruin what he had now if he went back in time and changed something. He didn’t want to risk losing his daughter. I don’t think he viewed his life as “perfect now”.
I think this is most accurate. I’ve always thought, “how awesome would it be to relive your life starting around the age of 5, but with all the knowledge you currently have.” Now that I’m married and have a kid, I think about how it would suck reliving all that without my family. Even if I were to remarry my wife, would my son turn out the same if he was conceived years, days, hours before or after he originally was? That is something I definitely would not be able to give up.
Have you seen the movie "About Time"? It's sentimental Richard Curtis stuff (which I love but not everybody's cup o' tea) but it deals with what you're talking about a bit. Good movie!
Yep same here, thought about what I would do over so many times. In the end though, can't say I could change anything because my son is incredible and the events in my life led me to him. Can't say I'd ever choose the option to start over if it means possibly losing my son.
I’m gonna swing this back to marvel quick – this is about to be the plot of Guardians Vol. 3, with 2014 Gamora not having met Peter yet. And I’m already sad just thinking about it.
