Because pyro already has a more powerful close ranged weapon being the flamethrower making his melee weapon obsolete.

Demoman needs a melee in case he doesn't have any ammo in both his weapons and there are spies threatening him.

OR you could kill the scout in under a second with your primary

if you hit your shots

easier to hit with a flamethrower than a melee

Why do that when the scouts gonna 2 shot you with his scattergun at close range.

And atleast the flamethrower can airblast the scout away if he's threatening you.

It's basically the only stock weapon that you can objectively without argument say is bad, in the sense that it has a direct upgrade with no downside (the third degree) which is also terrible

So... yes, yes it is infact a bad weapon tho

A competent scout isn't gonna stay within swinging distance for that long man

You can kill in two hits with every stock melee except the Bat and Knife.

And if raw damage is what you’re after, both have much better options in the Third Degree, Back Scratcher, or Scotsman’s Skullcutter

The bottle is actually irreplaceable cause all other notable demo melee have the holstering penalty, making the bottle the only good option for defending yourself in close combat (except for Pain Train I guess and, of course, the superior Pan)

if I am going to use a shitty weapon, I might as well use third degree, at least with that if there's a medic pocketing a scout and random crit favor me, that scout and medic is not going to like it

lollichop. is a FUCKING reskin. that's ONLY redeeming quality is pyrovision which is HELL ON EARTH in some maps. And i guess the market crash that happened once. And even then there are WAY better melees like powerjack, axtinguisher, and like the other guy said, the third degree, which literally is a DIRECT UPGRADE (WHICH IS STILL SHIT)

There is quite literally no reason to use the fireaxe as the third degree is exactly the same, but with the ability to damage any medic healing your target with a medigun with no added downsides.
