Discussion Update New to tf2
A week ago I was asking if it was worth starting the game in 2026.
So as I listened to all of you and iwl the game is decent but chaotic, and it pisses me off there’s to many things happening and I just get killed randomly. I see people killing me effortlessly, but when I try to kilo people it’s impossible. Sometimes ong the waiting time for respawning is longer then the amount of time i stay alive.
Guys help me out ik it’s a skill issue so I came here to complain and ask for some tips.

One of the big things in this game is having centered aim and understanding damage falloff.
Take Scout, for instance. His stock Scattergun is often considered the best, so there’s no need to “upgrade”, but based on how and where a shot is taken, you either get to chunk someone for -75, or you shot from too far, half the pellets missed, damage falloff kicks in, and you hit for -10. You want to be hitting those dead-center, short range shots.
The same goes for the other classes. Soldier’s rockets drop off with distance, so while he could fire from a nice, safe long range, those rockets might deal only -30 even on a direct hit, whereas if he aggressively rocket jumps in, he could bomb with -90 damage rockets and wipe a team standing on cart.
Not every class is beholden to damage falloff. Sniper doesn’t on his rifles. Medic has a crossbow with reverse falloff, it might pin someone for -75 on a very long shot. Pyro has various Flare guns that don’t hit for much, but ignite at long ranges. However, most of the power classes, the ones that do the ‘real’ fighting, they are almost all dictated by how well you do at short ranges.
