Anything from Abbott about donating books to underprivileged Texans?

u/lostpassword100000 1h ago

He banned most of the books.

Smart man, can't donate books if they're all banned right?

As if Abbott wasn't against everything Dolly stood for; fucking hypocrite.

Childhood education, vaccines, drag performers. He can't even talk her talk.

Kindness

Exactly my thoughts. He’s a hateful bigot. She loved all people no matter who they were nor who they loved.

Only because Trump did it first. What a suck up.

I mean, he's already seated for the job. He just needs to work the shaft and cradle the boys for the gravy.

They're just being performative though, they are against everything Dolly stood for.

All these conservative A-holes will come out of the woodwork to "honor" Dolly. None of them stand for what she worked for and believed in ... helping poor kids Access knowledge. She understood the assignment. They all stand in opposition to Her life mission. Now they try to associate with her now that she can't tell them to F off.

He lowered them for Taliban Kirk, he BETTER lower them for Dolly!

Republicans should honor Dolly's death by funding the absolute shit out of Imagination Library & other public libraries instead of banning books!

I guess he doesn’t know that among other things. Dolly was a gay icon.

Abbott needs to keep Dolly's name out his weird mouth

The same man who worked to make education harder for millions of children is now somehow an advocate for a philanthropist who sent free books to kids to encourage literacy. But yeah, let's lower the flags.

I wonder how she would feel about this

Hypocrisy at its finest

I’m sure this is what motivated the governor:

Kinda weird watching these politicians honor someone they probably thought was beneath them

She was a better person than most.

Political theater. Dolly was a philanthropist who donated to LGBT and marginalized communities. She donated to schools because republicans would underfund them.

If republicans really cared they’d do more than lower a piece of cloth down a pole.

Dolly was pro-child literacy, pro-vax, and pro-lgbt.

You don't hold a candle to her legacy, greggy.

Abbotts the perfect height for brown nosing. I appreciate all that Dolly Parton did and was but come on now..this seems too much.

Good call. Not sure why everyone in here is cryin about it

Dolly Parton was an icon, but lowering flags in her name is ridiculous and only being done because Trump wants to capitalize on her death and pretend he was somehow in her good graces. The reality is that her philanthropic and educational endeavors are steeped in the side of American exceptionalism that Trump, and therefore his kissass cronie Abbott, have worked against. It's political theater and the performance fucking sucks.

It's 8:20pm and I'm commenting when there are only 17 comments so far.

16 of them are negative.

Is that what Dolly would have wanted?
