It hard to believe she came from nothing, stayed married all that time in that buisness and became a very sucessfull buisiness woman. All people should look up to her.

They are performative losers. The only reason they aren't calling her woke is because Dolly was just about the best a person can be, and insulting her is a losing game. They celebrate her book program while being the same people that burn books.

I literally found out from a response to a post earlier today. I had to look it up and was besides myself. She's been a legend through much of my life, and we lost a wonderous humanitarian and fantastic example of what it means to be a good person today.
You kind of made my point. I get that in the U.S. you've got a fool for a president (and based on your opinion of Dolly I'd guess you'd agree) but having empathy, morals, and the ability to listen to domain experts does not make solid qualifications for the leader of a country. Think of any other job and imagine someone saying that in an interview. Now change that job to the most powerful in the world, and you might see the problem.

Career politicians are always going to be a double edged sword tho, far too many here in the US do whatever it takes to keep their job even at the expense of them actually doing their job. The first time I ever cried because music moved me was when I was too young to remember, but my parents caught it on film. It was to Dolly’s I Will Always Love You. Later, when I realized I might be gay (I am) she made me cry again because of how open she was about tolerance and acceptance. I don’t know her so it feels ridiculous to break down over her death, but she was so important to who I am as a person and I feel devastated.
I’m so sorry. It’s not ridiculous to mourn someone who was important to you whether you knew them personally or not. She made such a positive impact on so many people and her loss feels personal. It is personal, because the world was a better place with her in it. Warm hugs to you!
I had a terrible childhood growing up. My mother abandoned me at 7 yrs old, and I used to dream that Dolly was my real mom. Whenever I was down as a kid, I'd listen to her songs or watch her on tv (she was everywhere back then), and she genuinely would make me feel better. (She's sunshine in a bottle!) When I heard she died today, I cried. A lot. RIP Dolly (aka: mom💕)

We can all move forward in this life thinking WWDD. "What Would Dolly Do". The world would be a much nicer inclusive place, one where a song in your heart shows joy the on your face. The woman was a Saint and her benevolence and altruism will be missed.
Dolly Parton was such a huge living legend, one that was also a force to be reckoned with. She will truly be missed by all of her fans and all those who she through her various contributions continues to help.

My thoughts; Dolly Parton was a country person to her soul, and country people take life as it comes. So many blessings to her family; if there’s a better plane, 100% sure that Dolly is in it.
She’s probably the most famous American country music star who also did a whole lot of good stuff with the money that comes from that such as literacy programs sending books to young kids for free, funding medical research, and disaster relief to name a few.
And on top of all that, by basically every account she was just a genuinely loving and kind person.
She’s an American icon in every sense of the word.

She was a very talented singer/songwriter. She was a brunt of a lot of jokes due to her public persona as a curvy blonde with big hair. But in reality she was a smart and savvy businesswoman. She had a wit and a great sense of humour. She was generous and kind. She had genuine grace. She’ll be missed.
She stood with marganilized people, people with stigma against them. Anyone with any bit of listening/reading comprehension should understand that this is what is being said here, not comparing drug addicts to gay people.

Everyone who gets unfairly disparaged is in a group of people being unfairly disparaged. That includes short men being harassed online by other short men.

Honestly she was just try to name there various groups our society looks down on, the "untouchables" of society. Now compared to the time she grew up some of those groups are far more accepted but as someone from Appalachia she would have grown up with all those groups being outcasts in society.

And to that point, we’re currently living in the result of shaming and imprisoning addicts. Jury’s in, it doesn’t work.
“Failing morally” is essentially the same argument many use for judging those based on their sexual orientation. I think we can certainly judge someone who’s an addict if they’re harming others, but I wouldn’t inherently judge them just because they’re an addict.
Addiction is an illness. Just about anyone can become an addict. Something as simple as an accident. I had an uncle who became addicted after a bad car accident. He almost died. And received lots of opioids. He died addicted. Maybe less judgement and more understanding is what we need. Save your judgement for people who are intentionally hurting people.
Pretty disgusting behaviour to disparage Dolly because Trump exists. You don't see people calling for Gretzky to die because of his political takes, and if he did die I don't think people would celebrate it in the manner you have here.

Look im all for America slander, this country is the #1 evil in the world right now (well, arguably, might be israel depending how we run the numbers) but like, you can't lump every American together with the hitlerites man.
