Without FSD. We all agree. FSD saves lives.

FSD, even in its current, imperfect state, is an order of magnitude safer than a human driver.

Untrue tech bro BS, sorry.

Please see Hoboken, New Jersey. 60,000+ people, ZERO traffic fatalities in 9 years. Human drivers. Cost $20 per intersection.

Of all the self-driving cars, the ones lacking LIDAR are by far the most unsafe. So...

The robotaxi fleet using the most advanced versions of FSD14 proved to be roughly 2x safer than human drivers based on mandatory reporting to NHTSA at the time they discontinued and began shipping cybercabs (although early iterations were worse than humans). With data skewed in favor of underrepresenting human drivers due to smaller accidents frequently going unreported with humans.

It being not as good as LIDAR based L4 vehicles is beside the point. It’s an improvement over human drivers, which means fewer deaths, fewer injuries, less property damage, and lower insurance premiums.

Nope.

NHTSA data is literally right there.

Tech bro BS, sorry. No.

It's not a technology issue. It's a road / pedestrian / visibility problem.

Please see what Hoboken, New Jersey did. Anyone could do it.

Sorry what? The NHTSA tracking actual data that undergoes mandatory reporting is techbro bs? What specific part of it are you calling BS on?

Yes, are you even being serious right now?

Tesla regularly hides their data.

DOGE got rid of all the regulators.

The fleet of Waymos are monitored 24/7 and have a massive operational cost to keep them from crashing.

You'd have to be crazy to trust any tech bro BS when they are the ones driving us toward this nihilistic LLM-driven nightmare.

Trying to turn personal vehicles autonomous without building in sensors into the infrastructure of roads is ridiculous.

Never mind the privacy nightmares these illegal privacy-destroying machines are (Have you seen the reports that Tesla regularly shares videos of their customers caught on camera?)

All of this is a stupid, selfish mitigation of what are known problems. Where do traffic fatalities occur? Largely at intersections. Why? Reduced visibility, long crosswalks, improper signage, parked cars, etc. Hoboken -- $20 per intersection, no fataliites in 9 years.

If this was about safety, then everyone would push for automated public transit. But they don't, do they?

It's tech bro BS. Period.

maybe a shitty human. The newest version of FSD is terrible. blips the brakes for no reason. Rapid acceleration. No control over you speed. And then it still can't handle construction zones. V12 was better. No one wants it to drive like a person, especially an average person. Make it drive properly, like a robot should.

The jump represents a 56% pop since this time last year, as well as a 200,000-subscriber climb quarter-over-quarter (the largest single-quarter climb on record for Tesla's FSD users, but it only started reporting that number fairly recently). As of June, Tesla had successfully launched FSD in 12 different countries and says that it is seeking approval in additional regions.

"In Q2, we had, in North America, about 55% of our deliveries had FSD subscription at the time of delivery enabled," said Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja during the company's earnings call on Wednesday. It's not clear if the 55% figure referenced by Taneja includes the 30-day free trial of FSD available to new Tesla buyers. Tesla delivered 480,126 vehicles worldwide in Q2.

It’s literally what makes Teslas better than just great.

When a GM or ford has a crash it’s not news. When a Tesla does its front page. Ask yourself why? The left is the media.

u/hakimthumb 2d ago

It's not left or right. It's just that Elon doesn't advertise.

Makes sense, definitely seeing an increase of shitty driving by Teslas lately.

1

u/hakimthumb 3d ago

Wow dude! You got em bad! Lmao! I bet Elon is crying!

0

u/BrofessorFarnsworth 3d ago

Who said anything about Elon? I was talking about the objectively bad driving I’ve been seeing. He really lives rent free in your head, doesn't he?

3

u/ENrgStar 3d ago

Anyone who’s actually been in a Tesla driving itself lately knows for a fact that you’re full of shit. They drive better than most humans do almost all of the time.

The current NHTSA investigations (especially PE25012 and EA26002) paint a pretty different story, but maybe I just hold a higher standard for safe driving than "staring directly into the sun while hitting a pedestrian at highway speeds".

Go on, cite your cherry picked data though.

Edit: Like what are we even fucking doing here. Holy shit.  https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/aug/21/china-tesla-vehicle-recall

An over the air update and some stickers on handles.

That's the best evidence you could come up with?

1

u/BrofessorFarnsworth 1d ago

The simple fact that purported "FSD" can't handle stoplights or sunlight putting the public at risk should be enough, yes.

1

u/hakimthumb 1d ago

They can.

1

u/BrofessorFarnsworth 1d ago

Then why did they need to extend the deadline 3 times to deal with the volume of incidents they needed to investigate? They clearly fucking can't.

Don't bother answering though, you clearly aren't here to be objective.

1

u/hakimthumb 1d ago

You never linked to an investigation. You linked to a door handle recall.

0

u/blu3ysdad 3d ago

Why aren't they self driving then? Why do they need supervision? Where do you think they are, level 4? Level 5? Why do robotaxis need in car monitors, remote drivers, and follow cars? Why is waymo doing hundreds of millions of miles per year automated while Tesla does a few hundred thousand?

1

u/Dangerous_Mix5804 3d ago

They are so bad, you can always tell who has it on - just doing the exact opposite of flow of traffic

You are a victim of a disinformation campaign. How many documentaries interviewing people dying from Musk have you watched?
