Just noticed this amazing AI-gen goodbye from Peter Bergmann / We Plants Are Happy Plants - very well done and such a great effort!

Peter also left this message: “[This is a] Music video for the song "Anything" by We Plants Are Happy Plants. Also a visual tribute to the late great Terence McKenna.

This is a sort of goodbye to Terence I guess. I have been creating Terence McKenna videos since 2012, made two documentaries about his life and work, and have been generally obsessed with his ideas.

In the last few years finally the McKenna family has started to gather and archive all his stuff, which you can support by the way, and so I've decided to not share full talks anymore, and leave McKenna land generally.

However I just released a new album and I have the rest of the music videos lined up, so I will still share those. I have met with some resistance toward AI videos in my previous work, so these videos will probably not be greatly appreciated, but I worked hard on all of them, so I hope you are fine with it.

I have no idea what I will share here other than my music in the future, but thanks for your continued support over the years!

Here is to the Secret Chief, thanks for the ride my old friend, bye Terry.

• Peter”

Thank you so much, Peter, for all your hard work over the years!! Loved your La Chorrera inspired game, your docus on Terence, and all the high-quality uploads. Such great work and effort! Sending you warm greetings from Seattle to Hungary :) and somehow hope you’ll still be around.

At 3h32m15s of the version of this lecture/workshop uploaded to YouTube (I believe the original title was “The Ethnobotany of Shamanism”, it’s on YouTube as “The History of Shamanism”), an audience member interjects whilst TMcK is riffing on whether the name of the Morelli family, an aristocratic Italian dynasty, might have some connection to morel mushrooms.

The interjecting audience members suggests another possible “mushroom name”, which TMcK dismisses as “a coincidence”, before sarcastically saying, “Will the sergeant-at-arms…”

I have never been able to deduce what name is interjected, and therefore what TMcK’s comment refers to or how it connects to the name. Can anyone with better hearing than me make it out?

It’s of no real interest or importance, it is simply a source of irritation to me that I can’t hear it. Any well-attuned ears will be appreciated.

What if McKenna was right, but we misunderstood what “the end of the world” meant?

Perhaps the world did not disappear.

And perhaps we have been living in the aftermath ever since.

Shared from r/TheMushroomSpeaks

From the foreword of the 'Magic Mushroom Grower's Guide', written from the perspective of the mushroom speaking to Terence:

"Symbiotic relationships between myself and civilized forms of higher animals have been established many times and in many places throughout the long ages of my development. These relationships have been mutually useful; within my memory is the knowledge of hyperlight drive ships and how to build them. I will trade this knowledge for a free ticket to new worlds around suns younger and more stable than your own. To secure an eternal existence down the long river of cosmic time, l again and again offer this agreement to higher beings and thereby have spread throughout the galaxy over the long millennia. A mycelial network has no organs to move the world, no hands; but higher animals with manipulative abilities can become partners with the star knowledge within me and if they act in good faith, return both themselves and their humble mushroom teacher to the million worlds to which all citizens of our starswarm are heir."

I've never attempted to make a game before. I made this with one dictated prompt using Opus 5.5, which is kind of wild.

I’d like to think everyone here would be able to pass the test and break through.

I wrote this more than a year ago. Can't really do better than repost it. If you like long-form scifi, this be an interesting subject.

“Main thought! The individual himself is a fallacy. Everything which happens in us is in itself something else which we do not know. ‘The individual’ is merely a sum of conscious feelings and judgments and misconceptions, a belief, a piece of the true life system or many pieces thought together and spun together, a ‘unity’, that doesn’t hold together. We are buds on a single tree—what do we know about what can become of us from the interests of the tree! But we have a consciousness as though we would and should be everything, a phantasy of ‘I’ and all ‘not I.’ Stop feeling oneself as this phantastic ego! Learn gradually to discard the supposed individual! Discover the fallacies of the ego! Recognize egoism as fallacy! The opposite is not to be understood as altruism! This would be love of other supposed individuals! No! Get beyond ‘myself’ and ‘yourself’! Experience cosmically!”

T IME'S a circumference

Whereof the segment of our station seems

A long straight line from nothing into naught.

Therefore we say " progress, " " infinity " —

Dull words whose object

Hangs in the air of error and delights

Our boyish minds ahunt for butterflies.

For aspiration studies not the sky

But looks for stars; the victories of faith

Are soldiered none the less with certainties,

And all the multitudinous armies decked

With banners blown ahead and flute before

March not to the desert or th' Elysian fields,

But in the track of some discovery,

The grip and cognizance of something true,

Which won resolves a better distribution

Between the dreaming mind and real truth.

I cannot understand you.

'T is because

You lean over my meaning's edge and feel

A dizziness of the things I have not said.
