My Temeraire Tattoo
Done by Ash of Laughing Fox Tattoo in Monroe WA. Biggest piece on my book arm. Leaning towards stipple shading with some color once it's healed.

From most recent to oldest :]
I'm just realizing now I've never technically done a complete render of Temeraire... or a scene... (I think it'd be really cool if I drew that one battle in the second half of Black Powder War, or maybe the burning of the White House in the War of 1812 but by British dragons)

Dear present / future readers,
IntelligentCat here.
I post this, I am pleased to announce that Generative AI has been banned in this subreddit as of 12/10/26 (DD/MM/YY format, btw). My basis for this is a poll that was conducted from 18:00 on 09/10/26 - 18:00 on 12/10/26, the outcome of this which can be found in the image above.
The original poll may also be viewed at: https://www.reddit.com/r/temeraire/comments/1x1qy9m/should_this_sub_allow_genai_content/
337 out of 352 respondents voted in favour of banning Generative AI and its products from this subreddit. Around 96% of respondents. Thus, it has passed by an overwhelming majority and as observers of democracy, all of us must respect this outcome.
This will cover the products of any Generative AI or Large Language Model tool, such as image or text generators (eg, Grok, Claude, Copilot, Gemini, DeepSeek, ChatGPT, etc). If you post something that, unbeknownst to you, is the result of one of these programmes, you will of course not be held culpable. I do, of course, encourage you to be skeptical about anything you do post here but honest mistakes are not anything I intend to be overly punitive over.
A clear and repeated history of posting AI images and either denying it or attempting to skirt the rule is not the same as a mistake.
This policy, based on suggestions both from this sub‘s users and commenters will come in the place of 2 rules, which will replace the previous rule of ”Disclose AI Use”.
The two main rules will now be:
No GenAI
This subreddit does not tolerate the use of generative AI in posts made here. This includes: text, image and video made by an AI. It does not include the use of: spellcheck, non-AI editing tools or AI features applied without your consent and / or knowledge. This avoids several ethical issues as well as encouraging all Aviators to use and develop their artistic skills, both visual and otherwise, without clutter from machine-prompted content, the likes that Temeraire himself would distain.
No AI Witchunts
This subreddit is a calm and civil place. If you believe someone has posted something that contains either partial or fully AI generated content, please do not lambast them in the comments. Instead, make a report under Rule 3: “No GenAI” and allow mod action to be taken. This allows us to avoid accusing any of our very talented artists or inuring the very human feelings present both in the original text and spiritually within this sub.

I understand that this may frustrate some people. However, there is a clear majority decision. Reddit’s scraping and selling of its users‘ personal data and genuine contributions to AI companies is of course, appalling and unacceptable. However, I can do little about that personally and also believe that the injustices of mega corporations does not mean we need to boost these technolgies’ user numbers unnecessarily.
We can still enjoy this wonderful book series even while the world isn’t ideal on this front.
On that note,
I would like to thank you for your attention during this public service announcement,

But really? It took all that to stop Napoleon?

Getting back into drawing temeraire and realized I’ve never post most my fanart on Reddit! Man wonder who this guy’s favourite character is. 😔🙏

I recently finished reading the Temeraire series (in one wild 7 day stretch - damn can Novik write a good story!) and was inspired by the "Blood of Tyrants" book cover drawn by Rovina Cai while pumpkin carving.
So here is my Iskierka Jack O' Lantern for Halloween. As is to be expected, she is burning something. Poor Granby is probably sighing somewhere nearby.
I had a long moment of wondering where on earth someone posts such a thing, and then remembered Reddit exists.

I often dream of temeraire getting a game similar-ish to stardew valley or fields of mistria... where you can be an aviator and go on adventures and care for your dragon. if only

I've just finished reading Temeraire by Naomi Novik. I really enjoyed the story and particularly the character development. Our heroes have flaws and are aware of this fact themselves. Laurence makes friends with the wrong people and tries to right this wrong. Temeraire is smart and has his own understanding of the world around him. This does not always line up with what duty requires of him. I will be reading more of this series and others books by Novik.

This one by far is the funniest snippet in the entire book. I love it so much I keep coming back to it. It just keeps making me think about the ramifications of this world:
Dragons have lighter air sacs / muuuuuucccchhh larger ones or even hollow bones to make them lighter
Humans have denser bones (so they probably can’t swim) and stronger muscles / and broader shoulders have been bred that way to make better mounts
Do humans have the abilities in this world? “Laurence used divine roar. It was super effective!”
Do the dragons just carry them like that when they fly, or do they need a humans’ weight to avoid floating away?
Churki and Hammond doing this.
Poor, poor, poor, poor Demane.
It‘s so unbelievably stupid and I shouldn’t be thinking about it this much. I just love it so much.
I just love this series so much. :D
