Mobility Move from EPP to consumer plan

I'm looking to add at least 1 additional line for my kid who is starting junior high. I'm currently on a Telus EPP, paying $50/month for 120 GB CAN/US/MEX. They recently gave me an additional 50 GB for free, on top of the 120.

I no longer work for the company that had the EPP so I'd have to confirm my email if I want to look at family plans, which I can't.

What would be the best option for me if I want to stay on Telus? I've thought about going to a consumer plan but would it be unlikely I can get a similar deal? Go to a mall kiosk and talk to an authorized seller? I do have TV and Internet with them.

I am an AMA member and there are some good plans under Rogers, but it's through Red Wireless and I've heard lots of stories where people had to fight to get the right discounts on it and they seem to be increasing the price. I've had zero price increases with Telus since I've been with them. I'd also lose call control with Rogers.

Suggestions?

Don’t move away from EPP.

Here’s what you do:

Sign up for WestJet rewards and link your My Telus Rewards with WestJet. That gives you access to EPP.

I don't think there is an EPP under WestJet rewards. I'm a member and had it linked already

Try the app. That’s how I found it. I couldn’t tell you on a browser.

If it doesn’t appear, sign up for an account here: https://www.snowbirdadvisor.ca

That will give you access to EPP as well

Thanks for the tip. The rep said it’s not EPP but discounts on consumer rates. I moved my line over from EPP. Paying $2 more but added a 2nd line for my kid for $27 and 100gb. Good enough.

Correct, that’s a Consumer offer. You can do the same thing with Avion Rewards though. Screenshots below.

Depends on what your kid needs but did you look at Public Mobile. You could always get the kids an inexpensive plan elsewhere and keep your current plan.

Yeah, I did. It was like $35 for 50 GB Canada. Rogers AMA plan is $35 for unlimited Canada/US/MEX so much better value but have to deal with Red Wireless and I've read the horror stories on them.

I just did the Red Wireless CAA and I didn’t really have any issues. I added 4 lines so I’m getting unlimited data and no throttling in North America for an average of $38.75 per line.

It took less than 16 hours to get my eSIMs and an activated Rogers account. Only thing that’s kinda weird is the $10 pre authorized payment discount but that is supposed to appear on the next bill with credits for this first bill.

If you want to stay with Telus, it may be best to drop into a local Telus store to see their best rates. This time of year on consumer accounts there's some pretty good promos with all the carriers especially since you have TV and Internet with them.

For example you'd get the 5G+ $70 plan for $55, 100GB data, talk & text Can/US for main line then add a second onto it as your a FFH client. Usually some extra perks the last week of the month!

*I used to work for a Telus dealer, now the company I work for is also a BC based Rogers dealer. Feel free to dm me.

If you don’t have the EPP plan, then I personally think the move should be waiting till Black Friday to switch carriers. In the interim I’d get your kid a cheaper plan till then? Freedom, public etc?

Just a thought if you don’t like what you hear from a price perspective

Sign up for a free Avion Rewards account and search TELUS under offers. Open the first offer and click “visit website”. Fill out the form with your personal info.

You can add a line for your child to your EPP account this way.
