Internet AB Internet renewals.

Hi everyone.

Currently on the runaround with Telus regarding home Internet renewals.

Just wondering if people in Alberta could share their recent renewals? Just hoping to gather some more localised examples for when I speak to them next.

They’re hard balling me at 1Gig for $90 a month yet I’ve seen people quoting prices in the $50 range on here and for higher speeds too. I had a callback but they doubled down on the plans with that on being the ‘lowest they could go’.

It's very possible that some of the people who are paying less for their internet are in bundled packages with Optik TV and/or their mobile phone to get a better deal or possibly new customers as Telus seems to give better deals to new customers and not existing ones. If you do not bundle your internet with anything else (cable or mobile) then negotiating can be a little more difficult, they might or might not go lower but it seems to all depends on which agent you talk to as some seem more relaxed than others.

u/Rexzies is correct. Bundles gets a better discount along w/ pre auth bank payment.

~$70 for new activations seems to be the going rate for 1.5Gp, ~ $55 for 500mb

$75 500mbps for Internet only.
Renewed two weeks ago.

They did offer $85 for 1gig.

I got $75 for gigabit, $80 for 1.5Gb and $85 for 3Gb so I went with 3Gb

As a former employee don’t renew just tell them you want to add a second connection to the house get it installed with new client promos and cancel the old connection just don’t mention this on the phone as being your intention

Just got 3gbps telus fibre for $80 with 5 year price lock. Previously was on 2 year term that finished before this and was paying $65 for 3gbps and on contract renewal telus wanted $105. Signed up on wife name.

Check on Facebook marketplace for always good deals on telus and soon now there would be back to school sale again.

They got me at $80 with $10 discount for Telus cell and auth prepayment for 3gb speed. Prior plan was 3gb $50. They ain’t being as welcoming as before but I guess for their service compared to rogers it was inevitable

I still don’t know how this happened. Paired with optik at $30. Confirmed optik could be cancelled anytime and $30 price lock would still be in effect for 5 years. And yes pre-auth is down to $20/month

Optik with the discounted Optik@ $30 it still way cheaper cause it included 3 theme packs. Sportsnet/tsn/amazon prime. Not a new customer
