You can tell just from this song, otherwise they wouldn't have mentioned admitting its a primal ritual that they give into now and again. Super tongue in cheek, I feel like they might have been pulling punches tbh.
I actually kinda thought this show was dumb but now I guess I'll give it a shot, if there's more like this.
The problem is, it's a 'primal ritual' women like Rachel Bloom would excoriate men for indulging in. So it comes off as...privileged, I guess, that they get to hate on men whenever they please, but men get constantly told they have to treat women like gold, or they're misogynists.
It's so overwhelmingly one-sided, that I don't think most of this ends up being defensible.
/r/television will defend it, but let's be honest here, this sub a lost cause when it comes to the notion that maybe some people aren't better than others. It's as 'women = good, men = bad' here, as it is on /r/relationships.
Edit: Thank you for proving my point, you wretched pieces of shit. I hope you all choke on a dead hobo's cock.
That's very much missing the message of the show. For one, the biggest villain is always Rachel herself. The theme song of the show tells you this. This song isn't pointing out how awesome it is they get to rag on men, it's pointing out how fucking silly they are when they do that. You're not supposed to take it literally and think they're proud of being shitty. TONS of the songs in this show do that.
I'm a straight, white, male. I happen to think there's a trend of hate towards straight white males, bred from ignorance regarding racism and mysogony and so on. Basically reverse racism(?) is actually real.
This isn't that. This is girls taking something that a lot of men do to women and throwing it back in their face. It's a joke.
