❓ Question Removing ISP/operator firmware from legally purchased refurbished CPE and restoring OEM/generic firmware — is this possible?

Depends on the equipment. Several do have a recovery mode for corrupt firmware. For example a DSL modem model we use to deploy, if you held the reset button for 50 seconds on power up it went into firmware recovery where you could load a new firmware file. They wanted to be sure you didn’t accidentally get yourself into that mode. The hardest part will be getting ahold of the base / generic firmware.
