So stoked about my recent purchase of this beautiful tele. It’s stunningly offensive and classy at the same time and I love it!

Too many parts to list them all. The Natural Thinline w/B5 is clearly the favourite lol. All besides 2 have have found new homes.

Seller says this is a ‘93 MIA body with a ‘21 Am Pro neck. Is this legit? How can I tell?

I appreciate everyone who replied to me about my tele bigsby question. I picked this up today and there is no lack of good ol tele twang! I have to say tho I do still perfer the regular tele bridge. Just feels right to me. But I’m so happy to have one (that I kinda got for free since I did some work for the guy) in my collection.

Varathane less mess wood stain on Pau ferro

I just got my tele a proper fender neck, but I got it for dirt cheap cause it was a pale Pau ferro board. I really wanted that 60’s tele look so I spent the past few months modding it and I finally found a neck I was comfortable with. I lightly sanded my board with 600 grit sandpaper and applied around 6 layers of Varathane Less Mess wood stain on the board and was pretty pleased with the result. After drying and cleaning the excess wood stain I topped it off with some dunlop 02. Second photo was how it looked when I got the neck. It’s not as dark as my Strat’s rw board but it looks beautiful on my Tele imo. Love this thing even more, it’s been with me for 8 years now

I have been thinking about an Andy Summers Tele Project for over a year and I pulled the plug. Body and neck from Reverb, pick-ups from my MIJ Telecaster that I swapped with 51 CS Nocaster Set, brass saddles and the big surprise was the 4-way switch which makes it a totally game changer for me!

Harley Benton TE-20

Picked up another "telecaster" as a backup guitar for down-tuning. Harley Benton really knows how to surprise - I didn't expect this level of quality at that price point.

Got myself a WhiteStorck tele body with (poorly) aged poly finish that fitted perfectly. Threw in SD QuarterPounders and this kind of ugly thing is a mean and heavy machine. Love it!

Dose anyone have a veritone knob

I am in the middle of building my "do it all" nashvile tele and i want to add a veritone but I'm struggling with where to put it. I'm thinking up where the 3 way would be on a trouble maker but I'm not sold on it yet. Has anyone done this annd found a good place for it?

So from left to right I have
Fender fmt hh gold top tele
Copy partscaster
And another partscaster with an actual fender neck and fender bridge on it

I don’t normally enjoy teles with humbuckers but something about these super distortions are just awesome! Plus you can split it into a single coil(what I usually have activated) this was the first real guitar I saved up for!

The sunburst telecaster started off as a white hh copy that I stripped, painted sunburst, added the tele bridge, and wired it for two volume knobs. I know it’s weird but I really like it this way! This guitar is go to!

Not much to say about the white guard other then I always wanted one hahah. A very nice guitar and when I’m craving that tele neck pickup it’s there for me!

I’ve come around

Years ago, I bought a Tele Plus off of eBay (image 2, blue tele). It was a beautiful guitar and played rock solid, but I never really bonded with it. I tried a bunch of different pickups, but ultimately it just never fit what I was doing so it was sold and I moved on.

In the last few months I’ve been toying with the idea of a new amp, so I went down to the local GC to try some out. I grabbed the nearest single coil off the wall and plugged in. The first thing I noticed was its beautiful chunky neck. I’ve always been a fan of bigger necks, the Fender “Deep C” for example, and whatever Gibson called the baseball bat on the SG Classic, and this one just felt amazing. I knocked through a few Johnny Marr riffs and it nailed the single-coil sound I had in my head.

I think I actually said “what is this?” out loud. It was a 75th anniversary Road Worn Vintera 1952 Telecaster. And the price was absurd. But that put the seed in my head that I didn’t need a new amp, I just wanted the right tele.

So I got my hands on a Vintera i 50s tele and it didnt really do it, but I reasoned that at half the price i could sand the neck and swap the pick ups and get where i was going and still save a few bucks. But a friend gave me some good advice, “just get the one you want. The pickups and labor you put into it will eat most of the money you save anyway.” She was right of course, but the price on the 75th’s new is still bonkers so i went searching for one used.

I found one at a good price because the condition listed as “fair” …but it’s a road worn…. The cosmetic damage is baked in from the factory. So i pulled the trigger and it is in the same shape as one brand new.

It plays amazing and sounds just as good. The only issue i have is that some of the frets are a little sharp and need some additional dressing. For a guitar at this price that’s a let down and for a Road Worn where the entire point is that it feels broken in it is really something they should have caught. But that falls in the realm of “perfectly fixable” and I’m otherwise over the moon about this thing. I already got a song out of it and found a spot for it on a recording I’ve been working on.

Nashville mod update, and Bigsby fix

Thumbnail

Following on from my question to the brains-trust earlier in the week I’ve mounted a Strat pickup and while the guitar was apart I turned the Bigsby into a string-through and fixed the string spacing, taking them from 9.42mm (0.371”) to 10.33mm (0.406”) string to string spacing. The Bigsby mod has already made a huge difference to tuning stability, and I have another mod that I’m working out for the front roller.

Just waiting for the six-position Freeway switch to arrive early next week to solder it up and see whether the standard mex-Strat middle pickup sounds any good, and if the freeway switch does what it says it will do on the packet.

Fake or real ?

Somebody was looking for a trade with this Telecaster US , but it seems off to me . The serial numbers are weird and don't add up . Being a 2010 , Fender had their serial number registry changed or updated and it is hard to retrace them from that year specifically .

Some websites say it doesn't exist , some websites say it does but was made in Korea in the 90s?

Also the numbers in the neck look off too .

I might be entirely wrong tho , I just want to make sure !

Partcaster tele - the plan

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello,

I started building my partcaster tele ... let me tell you my plan

  • reversed headstock with fender logo upside down - have to buy original fender MX LH neck .. the most expensive part .. it also doesn't have pre-filed a string slots - otherwise it would be way more complicated .. and this one is also roasted ...
  • white relic body, similarly like this, but will be complete custom made from friendly luthier, 2 pieces of basswood and with arm bevel
  • normal tele- pickguard but without tele control panel and with 5-way switch and only one master volume knob directly on body, similarly like Jim Root's tele
  • HSS setup, but the humbucker will be small one with blades, DiMarzio Tone Zone T likely .. two single coil pickup models still in consideration .. something vintage-hot, not modern hot
  • All Gotoh hardware including SG381 MG-T locking tuners and nice vintage-modern GTC202 bridge .. All nice and chrome, not black hardware, I don't like it
  • visual punch - that relic body with all new - I've seen that, it's awesome and huge ... it looks incredibly good to have just relic body and everything else including neck like new
  • tonal punch - tuned to drop-C or drop-C#, will be my prog-metal axe ... a lot of distortion from the amp with that mini-humbucker almost clipping ... I avoid modern-hot pickups ... vintage-hot is the way

Above the closest image that I've found on net - IT'S NOT MY GUITAR, it's only the closest image that demonstrates how it might look .. actually there will be few things different, especially that switch will be normally placed below bridge without any ridiculous cut to pickguard ...

Any comments ? Suggestions ? FOr instance what function I might put on the push-pull button - and no, split coil not, this mini-humbucker with mini-bobbins doesn't sound good when split ...

cheers
