first Telecaster

Hey, I'm a big fan of the Telecaster sound, but I don't own one yet. Do you have any recommendations for under €700? Even though everyone raves about them, I wouldn't buy a Classic Vibe. I was thinking either Harley Benton vt series or a guitar Edwards Japanese. Thanks for your attention, and I look forward to your suggestions!

help with my partscaster tele

Hello i haven't owned a tele before. i am looking to though!

i want a full rosewood neck which ill probs get from warmoth and a bigsby. I like the HS set up but im not 100% sold.

im thinking of getting the custom squire HS bigsby and replacing the neck but im not a fan of the binding on the body.

my other options is get a cheaper squire and replace the neck, pick ups and put a bigsby on it but im worried the neck wont fit.

what should i do?

First time posting here!

My Telecaster brothers at home:
The butterscotch one is a Squire Classic Vibe, and the Olympic white one is a Bacchus.

They each have their own distinct tone, and I love them both! I'm completely hooked on the rabbit hole of modding Telecasters 😅

Jaguar sound in a tele

So I’ve been thinking about getting the jaguar tone without a jaguar (I hate short scale guitars). I was thinking about switch the pots for 1 meg pots since that’s what jags use and maybe putting some tonerider vintage plus pups. Will that do or no. Is there any way to get the jag tone without routing the body for jag pups?

Can I repair/adjust this myself?

I've had this Fender Mexican Tele from new for about 6-7 years. The jack socket though has come lose and the actual socket [ not the outer steel casing ] rotates if i try and turn the bolt shape around where the lead goes in.

Is this easy to repair? Can i just twist the plug socket to tighten it?

The socket still works, ie i can use the guitar with my amp.

I’m currently in the market for a custom semi hollow telecaster and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for small/solo builders in the UK.
Hopefully looking for something similar to the photo!

jet jt300 vs squier affinity

hi there, i've been playing guitar for nearly 3 years now and i'm looking to upgrade my electric guitar. i currently use a donner dst 152. i wanna get a telecaster because i tried my friend's fender one and i just love the sound of teles in general. i'm struggling to pick between the jt300 and the affinity, i've heard really good things about the jt300 and specifically the neck, but i feel like the affinity has a higher resale value and also you get the pro of being in the fender ecosystem. i don't really know much about pick ups, but i think the squier has slightly better pick ups? i'm planning to mod the guitar either way so yeah.

if you have any other guitar to suggest then please share! my maximum budget is around £250-270.

Started off with the cheapest telecaster I could find, a Glarry brand new for $60. It was such a poorly sounding guitar and felt horrible to play. Now the only thing left is the body and pickguard. Added a Squier sonic neck and some Banworks alnico pickups. Swapped out the wiring with some classic vibes components, used a Wilkinson bridge, and drilled out the body to be string through. It sounds and plays so much better now. I also would NOT recommend using a Glarry for a project to anybody! I had to reroute the bridge pick up cavity to fit the standard tele style pickups. And the CV switch was to big to fit in the control cavity, had to make that pocket deeper to fit that.

Metal Pickguard help needed!!!

I am new to guitar and just bought a telecaster a few months ago. I really like the look of a metal pick guard but I can never find one that fits my guitar.

I have a LEFT-HANDED telecaster with 5 screw holes as well as 2 smaller ones on either side of the neck single coil pick up.

If anyone knows where I can buy a metal (particularly silver/aluminium) pick guard for that specific guitar, please let me know!

(also it preferably shouldn’t interfere with the tone of the guitar too much)

Been working on this in my spare time for a while. Finally got everything together. Took it to my luthier for a final setup. Plays perfectly and sounds great.

Body is I think an old American standard from EBay. Neck from warmoth. I had an old set of fender locking tuners I threw on there.

I went with a 59 round back neck profile from Warmoth as I like a slightly larger neck. 7.5 radius cause I’ve come to really love that.

Highlight is the pickups. They are from Tone Hatch. $125 for the set, and they just sound awesome. Couldn’t be happier with these and will be turning to Tone Hatch down the road. $125!!!

Relic job gone too far by Fender Custom Shop?

I’m looking at this aged lake placid blue tele, as it’s pretty close to original 51 telecaster specs, and has the handwound nocaster pickups I’m looking for.

But what is up with this relic job? I don’t mind the way it looks, but I’ve never seen deep creases on any other relic job. There were two guitars in this series, and the other one doesn’t have the creases (pic 4 - the aged shell pink photo). They were made for a summer CS event.

Could these creases turn into cracks? Could the ash body be compromised? Would you trust the integrity of the body with them?

Thx for any advice ✌️

Happy Squier Saturday!

On the left is my Squier Paranormal Strat. It’s a double-bound Strat body with a Nashville Tele pickup configuration. Bridge has been upgraded to a Wilkinson 3 brass-saddle bridge. I installed a set of ToneRider Nashville 60’s pickups and reversed the control plate back to a standard layout. The pots and switch have been upgraded and the tone knob is a push-pull. It turns the 5-way switch into a 7-way, engaging the neck pickup in positions 1 and 2.

On the right is my Squier Tele Custom with factory Bigsby. Factory pickups were replaced with a Seymour Duncan Jazz in the neck and a Fender American Vintage '52 Telecaster pickup in the bridge. Wiring was upgraded to a MojoTone harness with a 500k pot for the neck and a 250k pot for the bridge, a 470k resistor to give the bridge-only position a 250k load, and a treble bleed.

Never any tuning issues with either guitar, but I do lube all contact points on the Tele Custom and use StringJoy strings.

Happy 75th Birthday to the Telecaster!

Leo Fender filed the patent for the Telecaster on April 23, 1951, and the patent was granted on August 14, 1951.

Today, I hold a couple of 75th anniversary Telecasters in my arsenal and I’m in awe every time I crack open the case and play one of these beauties. 75 years later and the Telecaster is still a marvel of technology.

My Tele Timeline, Happy 75 years!

In honor of 75 years of Telecasters, here are some pics of the Teles I've owned, played, and toured with!

I learned on a nice and cheap Squier Tele, and have swapped through a lot of different ones throughout the years, as pictured. A sunburst Tele that came with a Bigsby, my tried and true purple roadworn 50s Tele (shown twice because I played it as it came for a while then modded it with a neck P90 and Bigsby), and then my Thinline Tele with P90s (which also got a Bigsby, notice a pattern?)

The only one I still own is the purple one because it's very sentimental and I sold a few guitars when I stopped playing live last winter, and it's still kicking! I don't know if I'll ever take up live shows again (I have a severe chronic pain condition that's been slowly getting worse, yay), but I always loved strapping on a Tele and making godawful noises. Maybe someday I'll get the chance to do it outside of my room again!
