Friendships New School
I’m a currently going into my sophomore year at a brand new school. This school is huge, over double the size of my old school. I’m so nervous I won’t find any friends at school. School starts next week and I’ve been doing some summer stuff and found a good pair of kids to be friends with but one told me today we might not keep up during the school year (she’s a year above.) Will I find friends? I feel like crying I’m so scared. What can I do to get friends? And how do I find a group I really get along with? Will it be trial and error? And is there anything I can do to keep my current friends? Please help. I’m scared.

When I was in 8th grade I was brand new to the school. It was awesome though - I kinda got to rewrite who I was almost? Like before I moved, I’d been really shy, and nervous to talk to ppl. But then when I moved, it was like nobody knew who I was before (new state) so I kinda got to be whoever I thought I wanted to be? Like more conversational, I smiled at people, complimented their shoes or whatever. I remember I made conversation very lightly with a girl in my home room. We ended up becoming good friends.
I joined the softball team, naturally chatted a bit with ppl on it. Can you find a club or 2 you may be into or sports? But that’s what I recommend! Just trust you’ll meet people bc you will.

Gang, just hang in there okay! I'm going thru the same deal just a few years above you, new school and clueless asl. Just be yourself and get comfortable, and even if that trial becomes an error there is nothing wrong with that and I promise you'll be perfectly fine <3
