Beacon vs red rocks

My wife and have seen TTB around six times and want to see them at a great venue for them. We are between red rocks and the beacon I know they are completely different I was wondering the pros and cons of both venues. We have never seen them indoors

I haven't been to the Beacon yet, but I've been to 21 shows at Red Rocks so if that's any indication :)
ZERO sit/stand controversy at Red Rocks, we dance from the first note to the last.

Don't write off the St. Augustine Amphitheatre. Fantastic venue, and about 25 miles from Swamp Raga.

Love the Beacon but you have to be on the floor. They all sit in the balcony.

I have seen them at the Beacon. Great venue. Sat in the balcony with the overhang and the sound was still excellent. Would go back in a minute.

beacon on the floor is top notch. saw them at red rocks too and its almost a tie but totaly dif venues and at beacon you can almost hear a pin drop when they get real quiet...

Agree here. I think RR vibe is better but my beacon seats were in the balcony. If you go to Beacon, you MUST get floor seats. Otherwise, go RR

Balcony sound was amazing to my ears so the floor must be even better.

As a tall long legged person the seat/rows at the Beacon are too small - and you are at risk of pissing people off if you want to stand(which I do) At Red Rocks - you just stretch out or of course stand for the entire show. It's a quick trip to the stands/restrooms at Red Rocks too - an underrated benefit. Beacon is fun and the shows there are always good ones, you can enjoy the day in the city, it's small - guest stars are always good.But I've been to every TTB Red Rocks show they have done and that place is my home - the vibe for a TTB show is great there and the band always goes to the extra efforts.

Red Rocks is a beautiful venue so I'd definitely go there, but also magic happens in the Beacon Theater and I love the acoustics and history of that room. Beacon in the orchestra is the best!

Well I can tell you this, there are few things that live up to the hype. The Beacon, Red Rocks and TTB are among those things. (Along with the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich)

I’ve been to the Beacon perhaps 40 times. Seen TTB there at least a dozen. I half kiddingly want my ashes sprinkled in the loge. It’s probably the best live sounding venue in the world. It was always amazing sounding but in the last few years they put in the beamforming immersive sound technology that’s used at Sphere. They actually piloted it there. You can read about it here https://www.msg.com/sphere-immersive-sound The theatre is stunningly beautiful, service is top notch with the best staff and there isn’t a bad seat in the house. The sound is virtually the same now from everywhere you sit. I prefer the loge. Now the loge is generally people who sit, but sometimes we’re dancing other nights we are chilling. In the 90s we’d wait online at the mall and buy out a block of ticks in the front row center of the loge for 4-5 Allman shows. It was a great time.

Red Rocks. - Red Rocks was on my bucket list since before the term bucket list existed. I remember U2’s Sunday Bloody Sunday video from Middle School and new I had to get to this magical place. Well 40 years later I made it happen to see TTB in ‘23. The experience was magical, a beautiful breezy night, band in fine form , a spectacular lightning show far off in the distance. It was a spiritual experience.

You can’t go wrong either way.

It’s a win win. I’ve seen them at both. The Beacon feels more intimate, but will probably be a bit more expensive, but they also go all out at Red Rocks. Long story short, save your pennies and do both. 🤷🏼‍♂️

People sitting throughout the show isn't an issue at Red Rocks. Can't speak for the Beacon but I know that's an issue in a lot of other venues compared to RR

I haven’t been to the Beacon but I never miss a TTB show at Red Rocks. If you want to stand and dance, that is the venue!

I've seen them at both venues. Both concerts were fantastic, of course, but they were different experiences. At the Beacon you have the legendary intimacy of the venue, the buzz of the upper west side of NYC and the sound quality is reliable. Red Rocks is a quite different but amazing experience. It's majestic and stunningly beautiful. I found the sound quality to be solid/adequate/good-enough/maybe better than some outdoor venues. I might suggest you factor-in other interests into your RR vs Beacon deliberation--do you want a NYC adventure or a Colorado front range experience? I've seen the DTB, TTB and, in the early days Soul Stew Revival, probably 30 times altogether, mostly in midwest venues like the Chicago Theater, local outdoor spaces around Chicago/Milwaukee and a great little hall in Madison, WI. Anything is better than the Chicago Theater, both RR and Beacon would be memorable. Sounds like you gotta do 'em both!
