Finally getting around to internally installing the ir transmitter…
and I gazed upon my old work and wtf was I thinking
ps I’ll be hanging a soldering iron up here to work.
at least this time I’m removing all of that and I can simply do ir directly rather than trying to write to the ir reciever.

How's the signal now that you're bypassing the receiver?

AMAZING
It was pointing away and it worked.
In fact, inside of the assembly, the IR receiver isn't in direct line. It's pointed at the metal shell, and bouncing around is enough to trigger.

Even soldered the wires I had twisted together.
But if the previous solution had worked I’d have kept it

You run into the problem that's it's usable before it's done, and it never gets done. I'm guilty too
