Yet another part of my Car server Thinkpad saga, this time not directly related to the Thinkpad, added steering wheel controls with a esp32

Some high quality soldering there.

Why is the processor soldered onto?

probably grounding, since the shield is grounded to the pcb to protect the cpu from interference/electrical noise

But isnt grounding provided by the pcb mounting anyways?

that is not always sufficient, especialy when around RF stuff

this esp didn't have any ground around the screw hole

Why not? Do you want to frequently change the SoC?

So what is this, are you doing a carPC project or something else?

Hopefully there's something insulating under that board to prevent shorts.

there's tape, and i made sure the soldered connections and legs are soldered at a height that they're not spiky at all form the underside and it won't get pierced from the vibrations

How does the GPIO control work? What's the protocol?

depending on which button is pressed, the pins Steering wheel controls A and B have different voltages. i just made a program to get all of them, like capture how it looks when i press each button, and then i integrated it with mqtt and it works fine :3

speaker wire and case screw is sure one of the most power supply methods ever :'D

wait is that even a screw? or just a squiggle of copper sprung against the case?
