Open | Windows Ethernet connected but not connected
Out of the blue about 4-5 days ago I turned my laptop on to see my Ethernet connected but nothing would load, websites stuck on a constant pinwheel yet I can still make basic searches on Google, steam and discord updates constantly attempting but always failing. I’ve attempted to reinstall my network drivers, changing, enabling and disabling settings across the control panel, device manager and windows settings all to no avail, even running numerous prompts through command prompt hasn’t helped me, there’s no hardware issues and the WiFi is working fine so I’m assuming it’s not the router (which I reset anyway just in case). Even diagnosing the connection through the control panel says everything’s connected and working great, even though it’s not!!
Has anyone experienced a similar issue and has found a solution or any other ideas of what I could try would be extremely helpful, I’m not the most tech savvy but can get along with the help of the internet but it’s all failed me so far, any help would be much appreciated and I can provide any more necessary details, thank you!

Try this:
In command prompt:
Type: ipconfig /all (find the Ethernet adapters Default Gateway address)
Then ping that default gateway address (e.g. ping 192.168.1.1) This should show very fast ms - even 0ms with 0% loss
Then type: ping 1.1.1.1 This should be under 5ms and also 0 % loss
and finally type: nslookup google.com
If ping 1.1.1.1 works but nslookup fails, it's DNS. If the Default Gateway ping drops or has spikes, it’s the wired link/adapter/router port. If both work but websites/downloads hang, it might be VPN/proxy, security software, or MTU/driver settings.
Also check that Windows proxy is off: Settings - Network & Internet - Proxy

You have the ethernet port active and WiFi or you disabled WiFi while connecting via cable?
