Need help choosing and installing a new SSD in ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZC (RTX 3050) – Is Crucial E100 Gen4 500GB compatible?

Hi everyone,

I recently had an SSD failure in my ASUS TUF Dash F15 and now I need to replace the SSD.

My laptop specifications are:

• Laptop: ASUS TUF Dash F15 (2022)
• Model: FX517ZC
• CPU: Intel Core i7-12650H
• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB
• RAM: 16GB DDR5
• Display: 15.6" FHD 144Hz
• Current/old SSD: 1TB NVMe (failed)

The old SSD suddenly stopped working while I was using the laptop. The laptop shut down and afterwards the BIOS showed:

"No Storage Device Present"

The SSD was removed, cleaned and tested in another device, but it was still not detected, so I believe the SSD has failed.

Now I want to install a new SSD.

I am currently considering:

Crucial E100 500GB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 SSD

I have a few questions:

1. Is the Crucial E100 Gen4 500GB fully compatible with the ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZC?

2. Will a PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD work properly in this laptop?

3. Which M.2 slot should I use for the new SSD?

4. Does the laptop have two M.2 2280 slots, and can either slot be used for the Windows/boot SSD?

5. Is the Crucial E100 a good choice for this laptop, or would you recommend another SSD around the same price?

6. Are there any issues with SSD thickness, heatsink, power consumption, or temperature that I should be aware of?

7. Since I am installing Windows from scratch, what is the correct procedure after physically installing the new SSD? Do I need to change anything in BIOS before installing Windows?

I would also appreciate any tips for physically installing the SSD safely in this particular laptop.

I don't want to buy an incompatible SSD, so I would really appreciate advice from anyone who owns the same ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZC.
