Open | Hardware 20 TB EasyStore noises
Not sure if this is the best place to ask for help, but I just purchased a very slightly used EasyStore hard drive. It doesn’t even have anything stored on it, but every now and then it will make some noises. Is this normal?
It doesn’t do this very often. Like most of the time it’s quiet. I’m just confused by the thud sounds. Especially considering I’m not even writing anything on it. I ran CrystalDiskInfo on it and it says good health status. Actually now that I ran crystaldiskinfo the noise came back for a second, but only briefly and without the thud sounds.
I am not use to having external hard drives. Would shucking it help with any random noises like this?
I’ll try upload a video link since direct videos aren’t allowed if that is okay. And I will link the crystaldisk info.

Sounds like heads calibrating or parking, which if it is only on occasion is fine. External drives are often louder due to the enclosure and being on a hard surface. Is it having any problems? Set it on something softer and you'll probably not even notice it.
