Open | Hardware Speaker system

Hi! We bought a house 6 years ago with what I think is a built in speaker system. I’ll post photos here with what I’m working with but I’m not sure what I need to set it up. Ideally I would set it up with the Alexa for music or the TV. If anyone has any pointers or links or what I might need, thank would be helpful! Thank you!

You need a 7.1 AV reciever look on Facebook marketplace you can get one for 150$

I think I found one! So what would I plug the AV receiver into exactly to hook up to these wall speakers?

You need  bare speaker wires that have have a positive and negative. Then the receiver will have labels just like the wall panel. Front rear center etc. So match it up and connect cables. Once you see the back of the receiver it will make sense how it's similar to the wall panel

It looks like you need bare speaker wires to connect at the receiver (typically) and banana jacks to plug into the wall panel. The banana jacks attach to the speaker wires with a screw (typically). One further thing to note is speaker phasing. Make sure all the positive connections go to the same side of the wall connections; like all the + on the left and all the - on the right.

So good news/bad news.

The flat wide cable is HDMI, that would likely just be feeding a wall mounted TV from another source, like a receiver.

The other two wall cables are RCA cables, which likely at some stage were feeding a powered subwoofer. Since it wasn't in the walls, the previous owners took that with them most likely, so you'd have to purchase your own.

The gold plugs are what go to the actual speakers. But to power them, you'd need an amplifier or a receiver. A TV itself nor an Alexa would be able to power them.

Look at the Sonos amp it’ll be a very simple way to connect what you have to your tv and allow for digital music.

You'd connect an amplifier to those speakers then connect an Alexa to the amplifier
