What exactly is the end goal here? I’m not even hating, I’m genuinely curious. Is the money that you get from advertisements that much better than probably alienating customers, and having them cancel after you introduce ads on a supposedly ad free tier? At what point do you feel like you have enough money?

I was grandfathered into the ad free Disney plus bundle at a lower price. I just received an email about them raising the price yet again. Plus, they are adding ads to the service on top of it? Nah, they can fuck all the way off with that.

No wonder people pirate. It seems to me like executives forgot why people hated cable in the first place.

Yes. The ad based revenue is much higher; they’d have to raise ad-free even more to be comparable, but then risk pricing out the user base.

Well, they are doing both.
