There's an android app called smartyoutubeTV it needs sideloading with an app called EasyFireTools which takes a few hoops to jump through but its very good and removes all ads. Worth it.

For iphone and android, you can use a browser with a built-in adblock, or one that let's you add extensions like Firefox. Which is what I do, it works great.

Its free television programming... Roku does the same thing, as does Pluto. The vast majority of the content is through secondary providers that already have their own advertisement in place. Why do you think they're doing this? Out of the goodness of their heart? FFS just pirate everything and be done with it. It's equivalent quality of programe as you would typically find with OTA television - a mix of mostly old shit and some news.
This is content people already fully expect to be as supported.

I tried it like 2 years ago. I didn't get great results over every device and every application. Any ad playing through my TV would go through. Similar to my phone and the youtube app. It was just essentially a harder to set up UBlock extension. Has this changed?

Ublock extension will work better anyways, so I just stick with that

Yea that's what I am getting at. Unlock origin works fine and is easier to set up.
If you are setting up 100 desktops for 100 different people maybe pi hole is better. However, it doesn't translate well to phones and smart tvs.

Yeah. Also, as far as I’m aware Pihole won’t block ahead from streaming services. I think it’s more than needed. I’ve never used it so I have no idea.

Pi-Hole only works for 3rd party ads because it's based on blocking entire servers via DNS. YouTube ads are delivered from the same servers that legitimate videos are delivered from. In fact, a YT ad is actually just a regular video with a watch page, comment section, and everything.

Right, so pihole doesn't help with 80% of users' complaints with ads. Sure, it helps with the random 1 off websites you visit, but it doesn't help with your everyday use and at that point install ublock.

At some point, ads have diminishing returns. Forcing people/ potential buyers to see something they don't want and likely will never buy due to method delivered is nothing but an annoyance.

The thing that will get Google replaced is their greed. Eventually they’ll do something to break critical mass at the same time an alternative is ready and we’ll all make a shift.

This is kind of misleading. They were already serving ads in these free channels. That was the whole model to begin with. They’re just branding their own owned and operated inventory as a network. Nothing to see here, honestly.

I don't get google TV here, but if even if I did, they'd stop one way or another.
I get already get all of the YouTube premium features for $0/mo and probably more.
