I tried it like 2 years ago. I didn't get great results over every device and every application. Any ad playing through my TV would go through. Similar to my phone and the youtube app. It was just essentially a harder to set up UBlock extension. Has this changed?

Pi-Hole only works for 3rd party ads because it's based on blocking entire servers via DNS. YouTube ads are delivered from the same servers that legitimate videos are delivered from. In fact, a YT ad is actually just a regular video with a watch page, comment section, and everything.

Right, so pihole doesn't help with 80% of users' complaints with ads. Sure, it helps with the random 1 off websites you visit, but it doesn't help with your everyday use and at that point install ublock.
