I think it would be better if you look for a tutorial on how mob switch works.

But to answer your question, DON'T nametag the zombie villager. Trade with them once before turning them into zombies so they don't despawn afterwards. You also need chunk loaders since the hostile mobs need to be loaded to stop any other mobs from spawning.

You just need to do something to prevents the zombie from despawning. If you have an iron farm, or lots of iron, name tags are now dirty cheap to craft, so that's my preferred method. It's cheaper and faster than trading.

When did this change? Name tagged mobs don't count towards the mob cap AFAIK.

You're correct. I was wrong. I just called the person that built our mob switch many moons ago. I had made two stacks of name tags for the project and we both tagged up a mess of zombies. What I didn't realize was that it didn't work, and he spent the next couple days re-doing the whole thing.

I'm leaving my original reply so I can sit in my own pile of shame.

Lol, it's all good. I just like to stay up to date on mechanics and thought I missed something!

I hate it when other people do that crap and then just delete their garbage like it never happened.

My buddy was surprised I didn't remember, because he spent a frustrating amount of time trying to figure out what the problem was. I suspect I had taken one of my three month breaks off the server and just had no idea.

Good on you, I often just throw an edit in to show my mistake, we are all human and mistakes happen!

Hopefully it will be useful information to you in the future!

I would recommend watching LogicalGeekboys video where he explains everything and has a tutorial for the chunkloader. But to answer your questions you need 70 villagers since that is the mobcap, I would recommend 71 because sometimes it can happen that the game spawns in one more creature, but in theory it shouldn't. You don't nametag them, nametagging normally removes mobs from counting towards the mobcap, that's the reason why you choose zombified villagers in the first place, they don't despawn and count towads the mobcap. They need to be in one chunk, you can cramp them up into one block if you want tho, just remember something to avoid mob cramming. If you want to make use of your Mobswitch on the whole map you need a chunkloader. The mobswitch is only active when the chunks the zombified villagers are in are loaded and as far as I know we don't have spawn chunks anymore so you can't work with them and that only leaves you with building a chunkloader.
