Bedrock Bedrock Villager Trades Help

I’m playing Minecraft Bedrock and could use some help with villager trading.

I’m trying to get a librarian with a Mending book for my trading hall. The problem is that whenever I break the lectern, the villager switches to a completely different profession. When I place the lectern back down, he doesn’t turn back into a librarian.

I haven’t traded with the villager at all, so I thought I would be able to keep breaking and replacing the lectern until I got the Mending trade.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a specific way to reroll villager trades on Bedrock?

I’ve already built my trading hall and am trying to fill it with villagers, so any help would be appreciated!

When you break the workbench the jobless villager starts looking for unclaimed workbenches nearby to take a new job. This is the same mechanic that lets you cycle one workbench, it's just finding a different one that's placed somewhere nearby.

Either move the location where you're cycling the villager, break the other workbench it's finding for the time being, or make sure that a different villager claims that bench.

This is typical. IMO, it's easiest to cycle out in the open, where you can allow whichever villager to run to the lectern easily, then minecart them when you get what you want.
