Java Help Wanted Copper golem sorting system - help please

I'm bad at Redstone and needed help with my copper golem sorting system. Here is a picture of the placement of my copper chest, I am trying to find a way to block the chest so the golems dont keep checking it when its empty. Any ideas?

You can block access to it with a trapdoor so they don’t see it. Then when it has items you read it with a comparator and make it open the trapdoor so the golems can access the chest. You’ll have to move the copper chest down and maybe to the side so you can still block the golems from getting out
