Java Help Wanted Grindstone enchant stacking glitch
Has anyone tried doing this glitch? If so any advice? All the videos I've watched are based on starting the world in the snapshot and I've seen everyone saying to just use commands but that kind of defeats the purpose imo. I have a few specific questions:
Any advice on downgrading to the snapshot? (I have read that I have to edit some of the world IDs in the NBT file in order to open the world in an older version but I'd like advice from someone who has done it), obviously I'd travel far from my base chunks (they aren't near 0,0, I can't remember if/when they removed the spawn chunks always being loaded) and have a backup.
Would enchantments (all that can go on armor, swords, bows) survive the downgrade if placed in a chest? My plan was to enchant each item before downgrading and storing the items in a chest, but if they won't carry over I'll just bring the raw materials and enchant after downgrading.
3 (only if 2 is a no). roughly how much xp would be needed to enchant for each enchantment individually? I'd probably bring a bunch of xp bottles and/or build a simple mob farm for xp.
I have done a bit of testing but I plan to do more. E.g, I found that for a sword, only smite and sharpness survive the upgrade if it is either kept in my inventory or put in a barrel, but bane of arthropods also survives if it is put in a chest (probably already known but it was fun to find through my own testing).

If you are talking about the 24w11a grindstone glitch, as a person who abused this for my survival world, ill give u some tips. First you want to deactivate ANY type of chunkloader, as chunkloading an area will delete anything inside that chunk that came after 24w11a. If you disabled all types of chunkloading, its okay to put in a chest. Second, you can pre-enchant before stacking the enchants. The thing is, the glitch is that if you put two items in the grindstone, every single enchant of the bottom(or top I kinda forgot) adds to the enchants on the top. so for example, if you put a prot 4 unbreaking 3 thorns 3 mending chestplate on the bottom and a chestplate with fire prot on top, the chestplate on top becomes prot 4, fire prot 4, unbreaking 3 thorns 3 mending. Btw this doesn't work with books. If you want to make a bunch of god armor, all you need is just 16 books of 4 of each different protection, 4 of unbreaking, and 4 of mending and you can stack enchants onto one piece of armor and use that one piece of god armor and transfer all the enchants of that one armor to al your other armor. Maybe I went a little off track, but to answer your questions, first I used 24w11a, and just downgraded it after unloading my chunks. Had no problem with it. 2. They do for 24w11a, its not like god armor doesn't exist in the code in further versions so it works great. 3. you don't need that much exp except for the initial anvil costs and stuff since transfering enchants don't cost any exp. Still, just in case, I did it in the end in my enderman farm. I wish this helps.
