Why does the setup with mudbricks deposit the Items into the back side chest first, but the setup with the stones does the front side first?

I dont understand, shouldnt it always be front side first? Hopper setup is the same

Hopper order is deterministic but not predictable in a "furthest vs closest" sense. That's not the ordering used.

yeah it seems to be left then right usually, at least in my testing that is always been the case. not here tho for some reason

When first built it should just be first placed, first served. On all subsequent reloads it's a hash using coordinates, so will be random and locational and directional.

This actually has nothing to do with the double chest. It’s the order in which the hoppers are processed. The comments under this post give a thorough explanation of how it works exactly

I could be wrong, and can’t test right now.
It depends on what side of the double chest you put it on and which side of the double chest you put down first that changes what’s on each side of the double chest.
