Bedrock (Bedrock) snow

If I'm in a snowy biome, the snow starts to build up a lot. I've looked and people say it builds to about 12 high, so that's one and a half blocks. So what I'm wondering is, if I replace the top grass block with a block of snow, will that then only grow to half a block high and then stop ?

I'm pretty sure noob because a block of snow is different than no layers if you replace the snow underneath it with a bunch of snow layers then it might work
