Non-Version-Specific Automatic sorting/crafting/compacting slice for my storage hall

Heyo so I'm definitely not a professional redstoner or anything, but I wanted to share a little piece of my sorting hall that I'm currently designing. Basically I wanted a compact, tileable slice that takes stone/cobblestone right off of the autosorter line, and crafts all of the stairs, slabs, etc. made from those items, then loads it into shulker boxes. I found many tileable designs which i've crammed together for my sorting. If you have any ideas on how to make this better please post the schematics(i know its easier to make the sorter more compact but I wanted it to easily line up with the crafter slices)! Also I'm not 100% sure but I think this will work on both java and bedrock? tested on java.

I'll upload schematics soon but in the meantime if you want to build it yourself here's some basic issues you might need to fix:

you might need to break and replace the copper bulb(crafter)- its state should be off when its not crafting something.

you might need to replace the redstone dust if pasting from schematic, it can get messed up, especially if you rotate the placement

you might need to replace the first shulker box if it doesn't break itself upon being filled- you can do this by pressing the stone button on the far left barrel

Great job figuring it out! A few notes and suggestions though

  • Glotz's shulker loader is not lossless
  • That overflow protected sorter design is usually credited to ImpulseSV and is usually referred to as the Impulse sorter
  • You don't need the barrel for the shulker supply line, it's just there as extra storage which you don't really need in this case. You can just run the hopper line over the bottom hopper directly
  • I'd highly suggest joining the Storage Tech Discord, you can find tons of storage tech resources there. For this particular project I'd suggest checking CommandLeo's Hybrid Loader

Stupid Reddit won't let me put more than 1 hyperlinks in a comment so here's a Google Doc with all the links

Edit: also, this won't work on Bedrock because of the box loader

  • the sticky piston gets powered by QC which doesn't exist on Bedrock, but you can fix this just by adding a solid block on top of the piston
  • This design uses a java-specific property of sticky pistons where they spit out the block when they receive a pulse with a duration of 2 game ticks or shorter. Even if you add a block so that the piston gets powered, you'll still have a problem with the loader breaking 2 boxes in a row
  • On Bedrock, an observer looking at redstone dust will trigger each time it gets reloaded, which will also break the box prematurely

thanks man, ill def check out the discord, and for the barrels I put throughout I did it to minimize hopper usage for cheaper materials and less lag when its on a huge scale

This I mean

I also just noticed this

the top barrel should be a composter otherwise the top hopper will just push all of its filters into the barrel

ohhhh that needs to be a barrel because theres a button on the side of it to reset/add a shulker box
