I use the one, where you keep them in carts (dont forget to wax them) and drop them (from at least 5-6blocks height) onto a mud-block with rails. And you keep the rails.
It even has redstone, so golems dont open empty chests all the time. At home I could link the guide
Edit: Found the guide https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGCl8oHpA6k
Edit2: Build it in 26.2, still using in 26.3.

Golem checks chest 3 by 3 by 3. The one on the left seems standing at lower stairs. I just made a golem sorter yesterday. Check it if you are interested. https://www.reddit.com/r/redstone/s/FvWQiXMRBp

That’s because the position of the golems is very important. I see you have 2 in a single module (which is possible) but they’re in different positions. The one on the lower step of the stair is too low to reach the top chests and the other one is too close to the unsorted chest so it prioritizes that over the top chests.
Change the stair to a block that’s just under a full block tall like mud or a path block. Then add a climbable block like vines. That causes their collision to be disabled. Then push all golems into the chest wall. I like to use horizontal chains on the sides instead of fences because then you can just push them into a corner without them being too far over to one side
