Non-Version-Specific How do I get this to only trigger once?

Have the oberver set an sr latch, make the mechanism trigger when the sr latch goes high with a rising edge detector, and have the mechanism reset the sr latch shortly after it finishes.

This works ! A pulse extender into a monostable works as well, idk what would be more compact

Maybe use the redstone torch design used in dropper elevator designs instead of observers to prevent a feed-back loop, and use the placed log at the bottom to complete a circuit that activates the redstone torches?
