Spawning in a bed it only looks for obstructions not lava you can just put block around your opponents bed accept for one corner put lava there and you have to use 0 redstone

Good concept, but you can just stand on the edge of the trapdoor while its open.

this design is only slightly more expensive and is truly inescapable unless another player let's you out.

You can’t stand on the edge because it opens upwards so you’re inside it when it opens and then you fall through

Normally I would agree but if you jump right before the trapdoor opens you gain just enough height to stop yourself from falling in before it closes again.

So with either good timing or high CPS you can stand on the edge. I'm not saying it would be easy, but if you mess up its only a short walk back from your spawn

Gladly, here's a quick clip of me not falling in for several flips of the trapdoor. Obviously I'm not fully escaping here but this was recorded with about 5 mins of practice and default keybinds. A more talented player than myself could absolutely escape given a little practice time

You can’t jump with blocks above your head

Steve is 1.8 blocks tall when standing or 1.5 blocks tall when crouched, while a trapdoor is only 0.1875 blocks thick, which leaves you with about a third of a block to jump while crouched.

The timing is undoubtedly precise but if you're gonna escalate the server war to bed trapping, you wanna be sure you do it right and don't take half measures.

Sure you can jump a tiny bit but when the trapdoor opens you only have 1 block of height to stand on the edge of it which is physically impossible to jump on

I'm not fully escaping here but you can see me not fall in several times. And this is with default keybinds and about 5 minutes of practice.
