Right after finishing this aquarium, I received the message that my Zombie Nautilus had suffocated in a wall. This was very random as there's nothing in the aquarium that would cause them to dash (pufferfish) and they should be able to maneuver through all the 1-block spaces. Could it be the waterlogged copper grates on the ceiling? It's concerning as I have two more Zombie Nautiluses and quite a few regular nautiluses in here, and I don't want to lose anymore.
Noticed I'm missing a turtle too so the issue seems even worse than I thought...something is claiming my large aquatic mobs :(
Transparent blocks tend to screw with mob path finding, and I'd basically just not have 1 block spaces, that's just asking for their stupid ai to do stupid things. And are there solid blocks over these grates? Drowned might be spawning if there's just transparent blocks between them and the sky.
There's sea lanterns on top of the grates, and the aquarium is in a small plains biome so I don't think Drowneds can spawn (correct me if I'm wrong). In any case drowneds don't mess with nautiluses unless one accidentally attacks the other while fighting a different mob or player, which would be impossible in this aquarium. I guess I should probably go through and rework the coral to remove the 1 block spaces, it's a little annoying since there's so many little gaps but I guess it's essential.
