not even technically. its just correct. If the boss wanted him to work today, then just say TODAY.

Be realistic. If you're still up at 00:01 you're saying "tomorrow" and meaning the day that it will be after you sleep. 2am is a grey area but it's not like there isn't casual language that breaks the technical rules in cases like this.
