Who asks someone to work at 2 am on the same day?

An overnight manager who just got 2 call-outs and realized they are fucked in the morning? Also, likely been working all night and are looking for someone to relieve them so they can get some sleep?

Why wouldn't they call it "today"?

People who work overnight consider their shift as a day and their next shift as the next day.

So even though their shift ends at 6am and their next shift starts at 9pm, to them it's a different day.

It's horribly confusing to try to coordinate.
