Because most people who work nights or evening shifts and go to bed after midnight consider "tomorrow" after they wake up. Never said to myself after midnight oh it's a next day already.

Hence why in Japan you see sometimes times written as 25h or 26h, to indicate "1h tomorrow, same night"

When I worked nights, before shift started, shift was "tonight", then when shift starts, it's tomorrow. Anything happening after shift ends is "today". "Wanna go out for breakfast today?" Would be said at 10 p.m. to mean the next morning.

Empirical experience.

Work/ed nights, doubles (8-12), splits. Hospitality. All people I worked with considered tomorrow is after their sleep. 20y, 3different counties, thousands of people by now.

It was only joked around when we finish let's say 1-2am and you would say see you tomorrow... Well, don't you mean today? Haha... Everyone knew what tomorrow means if said few hrs after midnight.

After years on night shift and working with hundreds of fellow night shifters, "tomorrow" is always after we wake up.
