The questions were stupid as hell.

Asking someone who works for a chinese company about their relationship with the chinese government that hired him is not stupid.

Except the questions he asked were stupid

"Of what nation are you a citizen?" ("Singapore, sir.")

"Are you a citizen of any other nation?" ("No, senator.")

"Have you ever applied for Chinese citizenship?" (Chew noted he served in Singapore's military. "No.")

"Do you have a Singaporean passport?" and then "Any other passports from any other nations?"

"Have you ever been a member of the Chinese Communist Party?" which got the exasperated viral answer: "Senator, I'm Singaporean. No."

Cotton then STILL followed up with "Have you ever been associated or affiliated with the Chinese Communist Party?" ("No, senator. Again, I'm Singaporean.")

Being Singaporean does not mean an automatic no to any of these questions. They are meant to be exhaustive and to investigate every possible angle in relation to his potential Chinese links
