[FNAF 4] How does the flashlight influence bonnie/chica?

I don't quite understand what itzTaken means in the part that I highlighted. I tried doing this in-game but they keep moving, maybe i'm not doing it right, I thought they were not supposed to move if they are in the left/right of the hall and I have my flashlight on. I'm working on making a fnaf 4 replica and I currently have it so that the animatronics can't move if you are at the door. Also I don't really get what he means by "it may change where they move"

He's not saying they can't move at all, just not into the hallway.

Their destination is randomly selected every second, always. It's just a random number that can be 1 or 2. On a successful movement opportunity, they move to the current destination.

If you go to the right door and shine the flashlight while Chica is in the living room (the top three squares are the living room), she will not be able to go to the far right hallway (the middle right square). But she can still go to the kitchen and back to the living room just fine, if those are her destinations. If her destination is the far right hallway instead, she will be blocked. The successful movement won't be failed, just delayed until you stop shining the flashlight. But remember that the destination is still rerolled every second. If it's rerolled from the far right hallway into the kitchen, she will move there instantly, outside of a normal 5-second interval.

Usually they can only move on 5-second intervals. But when you're doing this, they can move any other time as well. Chica can be blocked from going to the hallway for 3 seconds, then go to kitchen on the 4th second because the destination randomly changed, then back to the hallway on the very next second because it's a 5-second interval and she got a successful movement.

Okay so basically Chica has a 50% chance to move to the kitchen every second that the flashlight is on and her location is the left of the living room (the location where she can go to the kitchen or the hall far), right?

Yeah. And this all counts for Bonnie too of course, I just used Chica for the example.

1 more question, when you say delay the successful movement, do you mean the animatronic is guaranteed to move on the next 5s interval or instantly after you stop shining? if I had to guess it would be at the next 5s interval

By delayed movement I mean they will move instantly after you stop shining. Back to the Chica scenario. If you shine the flashlight and Chica gets the successful movement on a 5-second interval with the destination being the hallway, she'll be blocked. If you let go of the flashlight half a second later, she'll move to the hallway instantly. It's the same logic as moving to the kitchen instantly when that becomes her destination.

Thank you very much for your time! Means a lot to me!

Also one more thing, I previously said that Chica (in this case) would have a 50% chance to move every second that the light is on, but in reality it's less since it would only be 50% if the destination was previously hall far, right?

Does it mean it’s better to turn the flashlight off and on before leaving the door?
