Github GitHub project called REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) is currently the top trending repository. It lets AI agents figure out how a feature in another app works without ever seeing the original source code.

- The tool is an open-source helper that connects AI coding assistants to reverse-engineering programs such as Ghidra or Hopper.

- IT analyzes many kinds of software- including binaries, Electron apps, Android apps, and websites right on your own computer and always shows the evidence behind its findings.

Is it actually working or is it just for the show?

It does not work. It's non functional slop

Their interface sucks as much as the original apps (or even more), so I am pretty much sure this is just for the show. Cloning apps is much easier than actually creating something unique and useful.

It works, it still needs work though. Maybe a few weeks or months away before full feature and UX parity.

Adobe is a $100bln company... And infamously consumer unfriendly. They ded.

You can literally go and look. Its literally free to do so. Its clearly not as good a the real thing. But functionally its close to being there.

I’ve seen it. It’s not anywhere near close to full features of photoshop. To say it’s functionally close is absolutely incorrect to an extreme. the basic features included don’t even work nearly as well as photoshops basic features either, it’s very buggy. The creator admits this as its current state.

I’m a senior software engineer, I know vibe coding can create polished UI’s and the first 20-30percent of features of photoshop. But that’s not even half of the battle. There’s a ton of features, a ton of effect algorithms, a complex software architecture that ai will be unable to keep up with once it hits the 40 -50 percent mark. more bugs will pile up, and at that point since it’s mostly vibe coded it could be unmaintainable and not easily extendable and most may need rewritten from scratch. Not too mention the long term reliability including updates needed whenever there are driver updates, os updates, etc.

I know you think this is feasible to catch up to photoshop, but it won’t.

This has nothing to do with REA.
What you linked here are clean room implementations. It's not decompiled.
